She then went on to do her cream contour step, layering products from Merit and Victoria Beckham Beauty (applying them under her cheekbones, nose, forehead and so on), before blending everything in, using her fingers.

Hayek noted that she does most of her makeup with her hands, as the warmth helps everything to blend, and she has better control. Once blended, she was left with fresh, glowy-looking skin and a subtly sculpted look that is just perfect for an elevated, everyday makeup look.

We also think the Touche Éclat is ideal for the summertime and layering with your best foundations with SPF or lightweight serum foundations, for when you want a touch of coverage but plenty of fresh radiance.

Stepping out for the opening night of Smash on Broadway on April 10th, SJP embodied sophistication in a black lace dress, black pointed-toe stilettos, and a long tailored coat. "In menopause, you know, the hair got thinner, the eyelashes got a bit thinner. So, everything's getting thinner except me," Ruth chuckled.

The first thing that endeared us to Kidman's choice of manicure was how it perfectly contrasted with her attire. The actor attended the 2025 Kering Women In Motion Awards (as part of the Cannes Film Festival) on May 18th, wearing a full-length red lace gown. The brightness of the red allowed her black manicure to stand out, but given that red and black are such a classic pairing, it didn't detract or look out of place.

We'd say her manicure serves as a reminder of just how chic darker shades like burgundy, red and of course, black are - especially amongst a sea of milky pinks and subtle nudes - and can always be relied upon to elevate an outfit.

Another detail we loved about her manicure, which was created by celebrity manicurist Ami Streets, was the length. Short nails are very on-trend right now and offer a versatility and subtlety to a look, even when said nail look is a rich, glossy black. Kidman's nails are eye-catching but not excessively so, thanks to their neat shape.

A black manicure is the perfect juxtaposition of timeless and modern. And interestingly, Kidman isn't the only A-lister to sport a black manicure this season, which makes us think we'll be seeing more of the moody hue well into the summer months too.

Why Julianne Moore's sleek ponytail is perfect for summer events

For her appearance at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 18th, Julianne Moore paired a sophisticated, one-shoulder back gown with statement silver drop earrings and a sleek updo.

From the front, it looks as though Moore has her signature copper hair secured into a classic low bun, but from the back, we can see that it's actually a tidy and slightly unexpected short ponytail. This choice feels fresh and modern compared to a meticulously pinned updo, while the smooth finish also complements the simple lines of her gown.

The look, which was created by a hairstylist Owen Gould, is refreshingly straightforward and a great option for the summer months, especially if you've got short hair (perhaps you've opted for a collarbone bob, let's say, but are stuck on styling).

It sweeps all the hair out of your face, which is ideal in the heat, and looks polished with very minimal effort involved. With the pony being secured at the nape of the neck, it also feels very elevated (ironic, considering it's lower placement) and refined compared to a classic ponytail, perhaps because we're so used to the latter.

Recreate Julianne Moore's look

This style of ponytail works for both long and short, shoulder-length hair. If you have a fringe or curtain bangs, though, you may need to pin your bangs back or opt for a slightly higher ponytail to ensure every strand is secured.

As for recreating the look, Moore's front strands are sectioned into a middle parting, while the rest has been brushed back into the pony. We would recommend investing in a pintail comb (like this Denman comb, at Amazon) to help you create precise lines.

Working in stages is best for this look. Begin by separating out the front portion of your hair (to create the middle parting) before gathering and securing the rest at the nape of your neck, to form the bulk of your low ponytail. Then create that clean middle parting with your front strands and smooth them back, securing them into the rest of your low ponytail.

We suggest using a smoothing styling cream to ensure there are no flyaways and that you achieve a similar glamorous sheen to Moore's.

So I was all ears when she revealed how she gets that your-skin-but-better look with just two products and a light hand. In a video filmed in back in 2023, she lifted the lid on her beauty bag and gave some much-wanted insight into her routine.

Considering how glowing her complexion always is, I assumed she'd offer a recommendation for the best lightweight foundation or convince me to buy some very expensive skincare. So I was shocked to find she simply uses what she described as a 'finger brush' that she uses to blend out 'the best concealer' and get a light coverage and glowy finish to her skin - plus, I could buy both for a modest price.

Speaking about Glossier's Stretch Balm Concealer and the Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Concealer brush, Sienna said, "Oh this is the best concealer, and I use that with something that my makeup artist Wendy got for me, which is the best thing I've ever been given - it's a Pat McGrath finger brush.

"It feels like a finger, and I really do all of my makeup and skincare with my hands - until I was given this, and now I use it for everything at the same time. It's a fantastic brush."

As much as I love getting glammed up and trying out new makeup looks, I've never really mastered the art of knowing what brush to use and when. It's why, like Sienna it seems, I'm a fan of using my hands as much as possible when it comes to my makeup and skincare. But this 'finger' brush might have converted me.

Incredibly versatile, Sienna mentions in the video that she uses the brush not only for concealer but other makeup application too, like eyeshadow. When you're spending any amount on a new makeup item, it's nice to know that you can use it for a multitude of things, so my ears pricked up.

As woman&home's Beauty Channel Editor, Fiona McKim agrees it's worth finding a brilliant brush or two for your kit, even if you are a fan of no makeup makeup looks, using minimal products, or, like me, prefer to use your fingers.

"Using the right tool for the job can make the difference between a passable face of makeup and a professional-standard one," says Fiona. "I'm not surprised this one's a corker. Pat McGrath is a legendary makeup artist with decades of experience, so she knows her stuff about what shape and texture of bristle works best with particular products. With the warmer weather rapidly approaching, I've been after a lightweight moisturiser for a while, and Sienna has just convinced me to try this wonder product she thinks so highly of.
