No matter how long a couple has been together, it's always worth checking in to make sure you are both happy in the relationship, and doing what you can to build a strong and mutually beneficial partnership. But what about the little things? What about the seemingly minuscule, day-to-day actions we might not even realise have an impact on our relationships?

In a candid Instagram video, Jillian Turecki revealed it's these little things she calls 'micro-rejections', which are one of the most overlooked yet biggest causes of relationship failure.

"Rarely will we break up with someone because we don't love them anymore," she said. "In fact, most relationships end not because of a lack of love but because a lack of connection. And it's in the absence of connection that out motivation to meet each other's needs fades."

According to her, "a lot of things" can cause this lack of connection. But, she says, "One thing that is not considered enough is rejection."

She's not talking about direct rejection. "It's the small micro-rejections that are stacked one on top of the other over weeks, months and years. It's the looking at our phone every time we're at dinner with someone we love. It's every time we're telling someone a story [and] they're looking down at their phones. It's these little things that we're not even aware of."

With therapeutic strategies, practical tools, tips, and guiding questions, Jillian Turecki's debut book is a "roadmap to finally start doing the work needed to love ourselves and find the love we deserve."

Jillian adds it's something we must work on "if we want to become more skilful in relationships."We have to become aware of how rejecting we are when we don't even realise it," she said.

So what's the solution? Jillian says people must start showing love in more "meaningful ways."

She explains, "A relationship needs daily connection - eye contact, kindness, and presence. When we stop nurturing the relationship, we create gaps. And those gaps widen until one day, we no longer feel seen, valued, or chosen."

People were quick to take to Jillian's comment section and share their own thoughts and experiences on the subject. "The phone was a huge issue for me," one person said. "It really bothered me. It makes me feel like whatever I am saying in that moment is not interesting. I think it's really rude."

Another shared, "Communication is always the reason for the break ups I’ve had in my life. Not connecting because the communication needs were not being met."

And a third wrote, "Well said! Sometimes, love fades not in grand, cinematic heartbreaks – but in the smallest, quietest ways."

<![CDATA[ Prince William revealed he and Kate Middleton have something 'tricky' on their bucket list - but we totally can see them doing it ]]> It's hard to imagine there are many things that the Prince and Princess of Wales haven't been able to achieve, from traveling all over the world on their iconic royal tours to hosting important charity galas with A-list celebrities.

Which is why it's nice to be reminded that, deep down, the royals are just like us. Whether it's Prince William's relatable parenting nightmare or the Princess of Wales sharing she was once a "terrible" waitress, there's plenty that people can relate to with the royals - including wanting to get hold of a ticket to one of the most iconic festivals.

Each year, Glastonbury tickets sell out in minutes, leaving frustrated Brits (and music lovers from elsewhere) desperate for a ticket. And it turns out William is also keen to go - but his problem isn't getting hold of a ticket.

Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen by Robert Jobson | $11.25 at Amazon

Through the author’s extensive connections within the royal household, this dynamic new biography tells the full story of how Catherine, the Princess of Wales, became the woman she is today.View Deal

During an appearance on BBC Radio 1 back in 2017, William revealed, "I’ve talked about going to Glastonbury before because I do love my music and Catherine as well," he said before adding that, unfortunately, "it’s kind of best to keep away from that" for security purposes.

That being said, we do know that Kate has made a rogue incognito appearance at a music festival before.

And that's not all, he revealed that they had managed to sneak under the radar to see one of their favorite bands, Coldplay, live at Wembley, which William said was "amazing."

The pair hinted that they possibly have a sneaky workaround to get into events like the Coldplay gig unnoticed. The interviewer asked William if they'd ever considered wearing a "comedy beard and a hat" to sneak into crowds, to which William replied, "It has crossed our minds - and who's to say we haven't done that already?"

We'd love to see William and Kate in the Glastonbury crowd. And, if they do make it to the festival, they may bump into an unexpected relative.

That's because the couple's son, Prince Louis, has previously made a surprise appearance at the music festival - though not in person. In a stunt that gained a lot of appreciation on X/Twitter, a member of the crowd printed the iconic picture of the youngster covering his ears on the Buckingham Palace balcony on a large flag and held it up for all the crowd to see.

Who knows, maybe William and Kate had donned their disguises and were in fact there to see the flag in person?

<![CDATA[ Prince George, Charlotte and Louis keeping family tradition alive with cousins Archie and Lilibet ]]> The Wales and Sussex kids are all quite high up in the royal line of succession, but they live very different lives in so many ways. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have never gone on a royal visit or attended Trooping the Colour and their faces are rarely seen in any photographs or videos shared by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Their cousins also have a high level of privacy at Adelaide Cottage, though they do take part in certain royal events and appear in plenty of official pictures as they are gradually introduced to royal life. However, all six of them are keeping a royal tradition alive and it strikes me as particularly adorable - and meaningful.

Prince George, Charlotte and Louis and Prince Archie and Lilibet all call their fathers "Papa". It seems like such a small thing, however, it’s a sweet connection to the Royal Family, and I might have expected the Sussexes to use "Dad" instead.

After all, they’re living away from the royal bubble in California and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan often refer to themselves as just "Harry and Meghan" in public. Meghan has even revealed her husband’s nickname "H" in interviews, whilst he is known to call her "Meg".

This all indicates quite a relaxed approach, so "Dad" might be the obvious choice if you had to guess what Archie and Lilibet call Prince Harry. "Papa" sounds a little more formal and the Duchess explained recently that this is the name they use.

During an appearance on Jamie Kern Lima’s podcast in April, she read out a letter written by her children with a little help from the Prince.

"From Archie and Lili via Papa. We love your cooking. We love your pancakes and we love, love, love your hugs. You're the best mummy and we love you," she said, as per the Evening Standard.

So it seems they do call their father "Papa" and Meghan also remarked on how much she loved that they said "mummy, instead of mommy", noting it’s "very British". "Papa" also sounds quite British, especially given that Prince George, Charlotte and Louis use it too.

In the Wales family’s 2025 Father’s Day photos taken by Josh Shinner the caption referred to the Prince of Wales in this way, stating, "Happy Father’s Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L".

In the past, they’ve also shared glimpses of Father’s Day cards addressed to him as "Papa", showing this isn’t a recent thing at all. It’s adorable that the cousins have this in common but this takes on even more significance as it’s continuing a long-standing royal custom.

Prince William and Harry call King Charles "Pa", which appears to be a shortening of this and King Charles himself called the late Prince Philip "Papa". Meanwhile, in a letter written to her parents describing their coronation, Queen Elizabeth II is said to have addressed the Queen Mother and King George VI as "Mummy and Papa".

"Dad" might be more common nowadays, but for the royals "Papa" has never gone out of favour and the Wales and Sussex cousins are keeping it alive as a tradition.

<![CDATA[ Salma Hayek says these £15 gel masks are ‘fantastic’ at brightening and smoothing the under eyes ]]> Salma Heyek might have a "low maintenance" approach to skincare, but there is one product she swears by to brighten her under eyes and smooth fine lines.

The actress revealed that she uses the Patchology FlashPatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels regularly to improve the look of dark circles and puffiness. Rather than one of the best eye creams, she swears by these gel patches to deliver an intense boost of hydration to the delicate skin under the eyes, where dryness can often emphasise the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

"These patches are fantastic and they're not expensive," she told Good Housekeeping US of the under-eye masks while talking about her otherwise "low maintenance" skincare routine. Most days, she says she skips washing her face and applies whichever she feels is the best moisturiser for her skin that day - but she always uses her Patchology Eye Gels.

Retailing at just £15 for five pairs, the Patchology Eye Gels are a seriously good beauty buy that won't break the bank. Just like the best eye creams for dark circles, they help brighten and moisturise skin for an extra boost of hydration - and they get to work in just five minutes, making for a quick, easy and seriously luxurious step in your morning skincare routine.

Salma Hayek's brightening under eye gel masks

Infused with invigorating ingredients like caffine and green tea, the Patchology eye gels brighten the under eye for a glowing, illuminated look that reduces the appearance of fine lines, dark circles and tired eyes.

At the same time, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, among other active ingredients, help to increase collagen production over time, which is what improves elasticity in the skin.

woman&home beauty editor, Fiona McKim, agrees that this is a recipe for success, saying, "Certain ingredients are known to be brilliantly effective under and around the eyes. Namely, circulation-boosting caffeine, which helps de-puff, antioxidant Vitamin C, which absorbs the free radicals that cause collagen degradation, and humectants such as hyaluronic acid that draw water into the skin to plump dehydration lines."

"Patchology's FlashPatch ticks every one of these boxes, so I'm not surprised Salma's a fan - plus, their gel material would feel deliciously cooling," adds Fiona.

These patches leave the skin smoother and brighter-looking. This is just what we want as we head into summer, where natural makeup looks and low-coverage, dewy-looking serum foundations feel far better to wear.

Even better, the gels adhere easily and comfortably to your skin so you can carry on getting ready while they work their magic. This is because they're made with the brand’s hydrogel technology that prevents any slipping or peeling.

It's not just Salma who loves the way that the patches awaken, renew and revitalise her skin. Reviewers are raving about them, too.

"Good value, feel cooling, especially if you keep in the fridge," one reviewer said. "Definitely make my eyes look brighter after use."

And a second added, "Love these. Keep buying them. Keep them in the fridge and they’ll work their magic."

<![CDATA[ Meryl Streep's Mamma Mia-esque embroidered blouse is the perfect summer top to wear with tailoring or jeans ]]> When Meryl Streep arrived at the Venice Film Festival back in 2019, she did so in serious style.

She teamed a pair of black tapered leg trousers with some very chic black mule heels, adding tortoiseshell shades, hoop earrings and a leather tote bag. But it was her embroidered blouse that really spoke to me. It's got a very Meryl in Mamma Mia! vibe to it, don't you think? It really reminds me of the tops her character wears underneath her iconic dungarees!

If you're searching for stylish tops to wear with jeans, particularly in the hot weather, this blouse has got your name written all over it. It's loose and flowy, with just the right amount of detail to tick the boho trend off your list. In black and white, it will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe, plus the frill collar is a really nice touch.

How to style yours

It sounds so simple, but investing in a top can really freshen up your wardrobe for the new season. woman&home's Fashion Editor Rivkie Baum agrees, telling me: "Thanks to the resurgence of boho style, embroidered tops are a big part of this season's spring/summer fashion trends.

"A white shirt is a timeless capsule wardrobe buy, but the embroidered detail helps to bring this classic piece into 2025. The vertical stitch work on the front of the shirt helps to draw the eye down, creating a lengthened silhouette that is both elegant and flattering."

<![CDATA[ Not apples or grapes - gastroenterologist reveals the best fruit for gut health ]]> Eating any fruit is a good way to improve your gut health, but not all are made equal. Some have more fibre and enzymes, which contribute to the growth of good bacteria. For instance, fruits with their skins on can be better than peeled fruits.

Dr Saurabh Sethi is a celebrated Harvard and Stanford University-educated gastroenterologist who regularly shares insights into gut health and digestion on Instagram, where he's amassed over one million followers.

In this video, the doctor rated a selection of fruits from one to 10, with 10 being the best fruit for gut health.

The doctor gave scores to several fruits, but only one scored the top spot - blueberries. These are rich in fibre and antioxidants, feed the 'good' bacteria in the gut, and have been shown to reduce inflammation. Small fruits, big benefits.

Pomegranate was next best with a score of nine, followed by kiwi and apples.

A very ripe banana ranked as one of the least beneficial fruits, but it's by no means one of the worst foods for gut health. In another video, the doctor gives that title to bacon, with an impressive score of minus 10.

Grapes and oranges are also near the bottom of the list, while pears, a green banana and melons sit in the middle of the lineup.

The best fruit for gut health - list in full:

 • Blueberries: 10
 • Pomegranate: 9
 • Kiwi: 8
 • Apple: 7
 • Pears: 6
 • Slightly green bananas: 5
 • Melons: 4
 • Oranges: 3
 • Grapes: 2
 • Very ripe banana: 1

While some people praised Dr Sethi's list, others pointed out that he doesn't explain why the best fruit for gut health is a blueberries and why other fruits (known for being some of the top gut-healthy foods, like apples) sit towards the bottom of the list.

One explanation could be that apple skin is known to cause bloating for some people, as the skin is rich in pectin, a type of fibre fermented in the gut.

Others were concerned that ranking fruits lower down on the list could put people off eating them, when all fruit is beneficial for a healthy gut and overall wellbeing. A 2025 review in the Journal of Food Science & Nutrition found that berries, citrus fruits, apples, and bananas have "significant potential" for keeping our gut bacteria healthy and "boosting immunity".

Blueberries aren't only winners for gut health, though. In another video, Dr Suthi points out that combining the berries with walnuts has added benefits for another part of the body.

"The polyphenols and omega-3s team up to protect your brain," he shared.

What about fruit juices and dried fruit?

Blueberries can be expensive and not always in season, so fruit juice and dried alternatives might seem like a good alternative. However, if store-bought, it's important to make sure these don't have added sugars or agents that could remove some hard-won benefits.

Frozen fruit is the other option. It tends to be cheaper than fresh varieties, it's available all year round, and is easy to store in the freezer for smoothies or spicing up your porridge.

Of course, the key to a healthy and balanced diet is to combine the gut-healthy foods described by Dr Suthi with those rich in protein, vegetables, legumes, and wholegrains.

Always talk to your doctor if you plan on making bigger changes to your diet.

<![CDATA[ Make way, Zara Tindall just made cornflower blue a must-wear for June and her pink clutch was the chicest finishing touch ]]> Knowing what to wear to the races is second nature to Zara Tindall and she’s started off strong with her first look at Royal Ascot this year. The equestrian royal will probably make several more appearances before it ends, but her cornflower blue midi dress will be hard to beat.

It’s by one of Zara’s favourite designers, Rebecca Vallance, and she wore it earlier this year during her trip to Australia for the Magic Millions events. It ticks so many boxes for timeless Ascot style - with a slight twist! The front section of the bodice has a lace panel, giving a semi-sheer effect that the royals don’t often go for.

It looks to be lined in a neutral fabric which ensures the lace panel isn’t too revealing. This has the added benefit of making the floral detailing really shine in contrast and the neat collar and feminine puffed sleeves also balanced things out.

Shop Dusty Blue Dresses

The colour was sensational and as a fan of pastel shades all year round (and especially in summer), I was transfixed by this cornflower blue. There’s nothing wishy-washy about this tone but it’s still got the softness I love about pastels over bright hues.

It was striking in the June sunshine at Ascot and I can imagine this as a wedding guest dress or a garden party look. A dress in a similar shade to Zara Tindall’s would be a lovely alternative to a classic white frock when you want your outfit to exude understated elegance.

Tan, white and natural woven accessories are always popular this time of year and they’d complement a dusty blue dress perfectly. For an elevated feel, metallic shoes and bags are gorgeous options that can bring a dressier edge to a blue ensemble.

Shop Pink Accessories

Although she’s partial to a silver shoe every now and again, Zara went for beige suede court shoes with her Rebecca Vallance dress. Going so neutral and classic with her heels was a clever move as she added a contrasting colour with her other accessories.

Her hat and clutch bag were both pale pink. Styling pink and blue together isn’t a go-to for me though Zara might just have convinced me to give it a try sometime. The King’s niece could have easily opted to go for a head-to-toe blue outfit.

Tonal looks are popular with the royals and I can see why as they bring an instant sense of cohesion. But Zara’s contrasting pink accessories were a little different and, if anything, they actually made the dress pop even more as it was the only blue element.

She finished off her outfit with the Finlay Ledbury sunglasses and swept her short blonde hair into a wavy updo. Zara wasn’t the only royal who went all-out with pastels for the first day of Royal Ascot as Queen Camilla stepped out in an aqua dress and Princess Beatrice wore a pink and white gingham frock.

I’d expect Zara to attend the races multiple times again this week and she rarely wears the same colour twice. Pale pink, butter yellow and soothing green are more favourites for Ascot and I’ll be keeping an eye out to see whether she brings back old favourites like this Rebecca Vallance dress or debuts new dresses instead.

<![CDATA[ Julia Roberts' vintage-style athleisure co-ord is inspiring our airport outfits this summer ]]> Basking in some rare UK sunshine, Julia Roberts' recent Instagram post featured her wearing a luxury athleisure ensemble by British designer Wales Boner. A first-class combination, the star looked relaxed and elegant in a navy zip-up tracksuit top with matching sporty wide-leg trousers as she soaked up some rays on a hotel rooftop.

Pairing the navy two-piece with some brown ballet flats from the celebrity-loved, Quiet Luxury brand, The Row. We couldn't help but think about how comfortable the star looked, and how this dressed-down two-piece was the perfect summer look for those looking for chic but cosy airport outfits. A great option for what to wear on a plane, Julia Roberts' was seen legs up on a chair, laidback in her stylish but unfussy set.

Choosing the right airport outfit can set the entire mood of your holiday, so finding an outfit formula that looks elevated yet keeps you comfortable from departures to arrivals is essential. And if over the years you've tried and tested combinations that have left you uncomfortable or just underwhelmed, we think Julia's athleisure is the inspiration we needed with holiday's on the horizon.

Shop Julia Roberts' Outfit

When it comes to laidback, but put-together looks, an athleisure co-ord is a soft, comfortable alternative to your favourite jeans and jumper, making it a perfect choice for optimal travel comfort. Delivering a sporty feel ensures comfort, while the matching top and bottom ensure that, despite its relaxed nature, it still looks put together, all without compromising on long-haul comfort.

Opting for dark colours or vintage-inspired silhouettes can make your two-piece look elevated, ideal for navigating the terminal, yet comfortable enough for long-haul flights or airport queues.

Another standout feature of this outfit has to be the leather ballet flats, and despite Julia relaxing at her hotel, her footwear choice is still inspiring our plane ensembles. Offering slip-on ease at security, with no laces to undo, and just enough structure to feel like you’re not wearing slippers, ballet flats fall perfectly in line with the fashion shoe trends of 2025, as well as being a practical shoe choice for travelling. For maximum comfort, I would choose a pair with a cushioned sole and a slightly squared-off toe, for practicality and ease.

If, like me, you’ve been searching for elusive airport outfit inspiration – one that combines comfort, practicality, and a dash of style – Julia Roberts' athleisure look is the outfit formula you need. Where possible, opt for breathable fabrics and loose silhouettes for the ultimate airport attire, and simply finish with supple leather flats for an on-trend edge.

<![CDATA[ Naga Munchetty reveals her mum was ‘devastated’ when she decided not to have children ]]> Turning 50 has brought a lot of struggles for TV presenter, newsreader and journalist Naga Munchetty, who has opened up about her adenomyosis diagnosis and a rift with her mother over her not having children – but she's also come to an important realisation after celebrating her milestone birthday.

In a candid and raw interview on HELLO!'s Second Act podcast, Naga revealed that her and her husband's 'conscious' decision not to have children was something that had caused a rift between her and her mum.

“My mum was devastated; she was from a different generation," she shared. But she "gets it now," Naga added, saying that her mum is happy that her and her husband James Haggar are living fulfilled lives without kids.

Naga said, "She is so proud of me and so happy to see me happy and thriving. It was a conscious [decision] and I am doing lots of other things and living a very fulfilling life. She doesn't think I’ve wasted an opportunity. My mum has evolved in that sense.”

Adenomyosis diagnosis

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed that she was left 'exhausted' and in crippling pain as she struggled to get a diagnosis for the debilitating womb condition adenomyosis, which she described as the ‘evil twin of endometriosis.’

It is thought, according to Circle Health Group, that one in 10 women may suffer from the condition, which causes the womb lining to grow within the muscular wall of the womb. It can cause severe symptoms, including extremely heavy and painful periods, a bloated tummy and pain during sex or when going to the toilet.

Naga was eventually diagnosed back in 2023, saying she "was just exhausted," after going back and forth to doctors. Since then, she has also shared the sentence to say in a GP appointment for better help so others can get help faster than she did.

Speaking about the pain on the podcast, Naga said, "I thought it was normal, but there is a real distinction. If something is common, it doesn't mean it's normal."

Revealing her diagnosis back in 2023 while live on BBC Radio 5 Live, she shared the details of a flare-up she experienced. "The pain was so terrible I couldn't move, turn over, sit up. I screamed non-stop for 45 minutes," she said.

"Right now as I sit here talking to you: I am in pain. Constant, nagging pain. In my uterus. Around my pelvis. Sometimes it runs down my thighs. And I'll have some level of pain for the entire show and for the rest of the day until I go to sleep."

Speaking on the podcast, Naga added that she felt a little ashamed over the pain she felt and wondered why she couldn't push through the symptoms when it seemed that other women could.

“I thought all the other women in the world are coping and thriving" she said. "If I’ve dared to bring it up I am (perceived as) weak, so you push yourself even harder.”

But, after celebrating her 50th birthday in February earlier this year, her outlook has changed and she revealed that she is now working at "being a bit kinder to myself."

She said, "It's ok, you are doing your best and you are doing ok. Some people bash you just because they want to. And I realised they were fools.”

<![CDATA[ Forget sandals - Emilia Fox’s chunky trainers are a comfy option that goes surprisingly well with delicate florals ]]> Deciding what to wear in the heat that makes you still feel put-together can be a challenge and I find that footwear can be my downfall. I love dainty sandals, but if I’m doing a lot of walking or am going to be out for longer I want more support.

If you’ve ever worried that white trainers just aren’t the right pairing for flowing, delicate dresses, then Emilia Fox’s latest look should reassure you. The Silent Witness star recently paid a visit to Giffords Circus to watch the Laguna Bay performance and wore a breezy floral co-ord with chunky trainers.

They had a platform sole that added extra elevation in a much more manageable way than stiletto heels. Although we only got a glimpse of them underneath her maxi skirt in a photo shared on Instagram, I suspect that Emilia was wearing Converse.

The black line detailing running around the front and sides of the shoe is a classic Converse touch. If they were by this brand, they were likely the All Star Lift Hi in white, which has a platform sole and sporty high-rise style.

The outsole on this design is made from vulcanised rubber and the upper is canvas. Chunkier or platform trainers might not sound as easy to style as streamlined, plimsoll-esque ones, though they are just as versatile, especially if you choose a neutral tone like white.

They also feel a bit more contemporary and fashion-forward, whilst essentially still being just white trainers. You can wear them with exactly the same outfits you would pair with sleeker trainers and this includes whimsical, very feminine pieces like Emilia Fox’s co-ord (and many of her other seasonal favourites).

It might look like a dress at first glance but the actor stepped out in a matching set by Pink City Prints. The square-neck blouse and maxi skirt are both hand block-printed and are made from breathable cotton and trimmed with cotton lace.

The pattern is intricate and the neutral base colour means that the pink, coral and red flowers and green leaves stand out with their brightness. If you haven’t discovered the best wedding guest dress of the season for you, then a co-ord like this is a fabulous option.

Emilia wore the top tucked into the tiered skirt to create a smooth silhouette and you would never have known it wasn’t a one-piece. The outfit worked so well with her white chunky trainers, despite them being very different styles.

(Image credit: Photo by Shane Anthony Sinclair/Getty Images)

Part of the reason I think this is so successful is because the contrast between the sporty trainers and florals is noticeable and feels very intentional. This is important when you’re putting together an ensemble like hers.

If you opt for plimsolls, it could almost look like an attempt to match the elegance of the outfit without it being the same style. Chunky trainers embrace the difference instead and they’re a brilliant alternative to sandals.

You can also, of course, get a lot of wear out of them with linen trousers and jeans as well as more flowy pieces. Emilia Fox finished off her look for her time at Giffords Circus with white sunglasses and layered necklaces. It was summer comfort in an outfit and is one that I’d love to see her bring out again before the season is over.

<![CDATA[ Mum’s in charge: Lip reader reveals the strict request Kate Middleton issued Prince Louis ]]> Prince Louis had plenty of fun at Trooping the Colour over the weekend, delighting crowds with his usual cheeky antics, but it’s been revealed he had to be firmly kept in check - not once, but twice.

For the annual parade celebrating the monarch’s official birthday, King Charles’s grandson, Louis, was all smiles as he copied his grandfather’s regal wave and had the crowds outside Buckingham Palace cheering him on.

The always-excitable Louis might have seemed quieter than past appearances – apart from some playful behaviour with his great-aunt Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh – but it’s been revealed that Louis had to be kept in check by his mum and his older brother.

A lip reader has reportedly revealed the strict command given to the youngster by his mum, Catherine, Princess of Wales, as they gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

After watching the Red Arrows fly-past, Louis might have temporarily been too excited to remember protocol. After the impressive display ended and the band started playing the national anthem, it appeared that Kate had to quickly and firmly remind the young prince of the proper protocol.

According to Cambridge Live, lip reader Jeremy Freeman has alleged that the future Queen said, “National anthem, Louis stand.”

It is customary for all royals who are less senior than King Charles - even the young children - as well as members of the public, to stand during the anthem.

"As the youngest of the Wales children it's a particularly long day for Prince Louis and his spirited personality means that he does occasionally have to be prompted by his siblings or parents," says woman&home Royal Editor, Emma Shacklock.

She adds, "I'm not surprised by the Princess's reported remark - she knows how to gently encourage Louis to follow protocol without making a big deal about it. She's showing him the ropes."

The lip reader also picked up on a conversation between Charles and William, with the father and son both apparently impressed by the turnout of the day. William reportedly said to his father, “Oh my word, what a day” to which His Majesty replied, “Great theatre.”

Meanwhile, it wasn’t just the Princess of Wales who had to keep Louis in check on the day. Before Kate’s reminder, Prince George also had to step in to remind Louis of the protocol of the day.

As the royals first appeared on the balcony, Louis was a little too eager and started to wave before the rest of his family. Quickly noticing, George gave his youngest sibling a quick nudge on the other arm to signal that he should stop waving.

It was once again a streamlined selection of royals on the balcony this year – with King Charles and Queen Camilla joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent.

<![CDATA[ We're mesmerised by how Salma Hayek uses YSL's Touche Éclat to brighten her complexion ]]> Ever wondered how Salma Hayek's makeup always looks so fresh and luminous? Well, YSL's oh-so-iconic Touche Éclat pen might have a little something to do with it, as the actress revealed exactly how and where she applies it - and safe to say, we're taking notes.

While the best foundations and concealers can work wonders for evening skin tone and masking imperfections, sometimes your complexion needs a little extra oomph. This is where products like contour sticks and cream highlighters come in handy, to help shape and add that all-important glow to your face. In Salma Hayek Pinault's case, though, she uses one key product to both highlight, brighten and boost coverage - and it's almost as iconic as she is.

A fixture in makeup bags all over the world and instantly recognisable for its clickable, gold applicator, YSL's Touche Éclat is a true multitasker, and Hayek has mastered how and where to apply it for a subtle but effective radiance.

The iconic YSL makeup buy Salma Hayek loves for illuminating her skin

While we have an array of beauty products that we love and have discovered ourselves, there's nothing quite like getting a glimpse into a celebrity's makeup bag and daily routine. In fact, over the past few years, we've adopted a few A-lister-backed formulas into our collection, from Helen Mirren's go-to nail polish to Kate Moss' Clarins perfume and now, Salma Hayek Pinault has shared her favourite skincare and makeup buys...

Breaking down her daily routine and tricks for Vogue's Beauty Secrets YouTube Series, Hayek shared the complexion products she swears by for concealing and brightening. And one nostalgic, gold-encased highlighter pen, in particular, caught our attention: the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat.

In the video, Salma Hayek revealed that she applies Charlotte Tilbury's Beauty Skin Foundation for a natural-looking base, and will often follow that with the Makeup By Mario concealer, to cover uneven skin tone and 'imperfections' - dubbing it the 'hardcore' concealing option. For lighter coverage days though, she swaps it for the Touche Éclat pen.

"When I don’t need that heavy coverage - which normally I do - I use this old trick, the Touche Éclat," Hayek said, adding: "I use number three, because it’s lighter." Opting for a lighter shade of concealer or complexion-illuminator than your skin tone is a good trick for adding brightness, especially around your under eyes.

Hayek then added, "With this one, you put it where you just need it," before proceeding to swipe the pen under her eyes and around her mouth as well as applying it along the bridge of her nose - like you would a highlighter.

She then went on to do her cream contour step, layering products from Merit and Victoria Beckham Beauty (applying them under her cheekbones, nose, forehead and so on), before blending everything in, using her fingers.

Hayek noted that she does most of her makeup with her hands, as the warmth helps everything to blend, and she has better control. Once blended, she was left with fresh, glowy-looking skin and a subtly sculpted look that is just perfect for an elevated, everyday makeup look.

We also think the Touche Éclat is ideal for the summertime and layering with your best foundations with SPF or lightweight serum foundations, for when you want a touch of coverage but plenty of fresh radiance.

<![CDATA[ Kate Middleton rests her case for summer being all about the Little White Dress in Self-Portrait stunner ]]> It was wonderful to see the Princess of Wales back by Duchess Sophie’s side as they waited for the procession before the Order of the Garter service on 16th June. Unlike the King, their husbands and several other royals, including Queen Camilla, they aren’t in the order but they do still attend the service at St George’s Chapel.

Such a special occasion means pulling out the style stops and the future Queen stepped out at Windsor Castle wearing an oldie but a goodie. Her white Self Portrait tailored boucle dress has been in her collection for years and resembles a classic blazer worn over a pleated midi skirt.

The beauty of it is that it’s an all-in-one design and the textured bodice with its crisp lapels drapes over the flowing chiffon skirt underneath. Delicate lace with a scalloped hem runs along the bottom and this is one of two things about Kate’s look that surprised me.

Shop White Dresses

Lace is one of those fabrics that can be tricky to style. I often find lace-focused designs a bit too twee, or else look too much like nightwear.

The Princess of Wales effortlessly avoided this with her midi dress, as the structure of the blazer-style bodice balanced the feminine, whimsical lace. Lace is still not something she tends to wear, though, making this dress stand out to me.

It was a subtle way to wear a sheer material and still felt modest and sophisticated. The underskirt helped with this, as did the fact that the lace was minimal.

Although a white frock isn’t going to make many people’s list of the best wedding guest dresses for obvious reasons, they do work for so many other occasions like garden parties, picnics and the races.

Many of us get a lot of wear out of black dresses for date nights and parties and a Little White Dress is a fabulous summer alternative. They don’t have to be quite as formal as hers, either. A smart-casual outfit of a white midi dress and raffia accessories is a failsafe, and if you prefer bright bags and sandals then you have a neutral base to pair with them.

Kate’s Self Portrait dress had multiple textures to add dimension to the otherwise plain white dress, and this was a clever choice. She matched her hat to her clothes and accessorised with timeless court shoe heels in a soft beige tone.

For a comfier option, white trainers would also work but stilettos brought the sophistication we’d expect from the Order of the Garter service.

These were stunning finishing touches, though the second aspect of her look that really caught my attention was her hair. The Princess used to wear her brunette tresses loose a lot but since becoming more senior within the Royal Family this has changed.

She now favours sleek up-dos for official events and occasions - as we saw a few days earlier at Trooping the Colour. Her decision to leave her hair down in loose waves was unusual and felt more relaxed. It worked with the smart white dress and softened the tailored silhouette.

This was a chic look for the service, which honours the Order of the Garter as the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain.

<![CDATA[ Mariska Hargitay's figure-flattering wide-leg jeans and bouclé jacket outfit is the perfect smart-casual look ]]> Mariska Hargitay was one of many celebrities who attended "Through Her Lens": The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Programme, and just like Olivia Munn, the TV star suggested that the era of the barrel leg jeans was over, opting instead for a light wash, wide-leg pair of jeans to anchor her look for the fashionable occasion.

Stepping out in a pair of high-waisted, light blue denims, Mariska added a pair of black rimmed sunglasses and added polish to her ensemble with a classic Chanel bouclé jacket. Completing her outfit with a timeless, tucked-in white tee, I was struck by just how chic and effortless the Law and Order actress looked, and how easy it is to recreate this French fashion brand-approved look.

Bouclé jackets have been everywhere this season, and are a brilliant piece of outerwear to add to a summer capsule wardrobe. The tailored jacket is light and feminine and makes a great switch out for a blazer when you want to feel a little more glam. Opting for all white, Mariska's look was perfect for high summer, and pairing it with a white t-shirt helped to keep the light reflected against her face.

Mariska Hargitay gives light blue jeans added polish

If you've been wondering if jeans can be business casual, I'd usually say yes, without a doubt, but stick to dark indigo and black washes. However, Mariska's outfit certainly challenges that fashion rule.

Giving wide-leg jeans a dressier feel by opting for a tucked-in tee, alongside a tailored jacket, has given a denim style that is usually considered casual a more polished edge.

Completing her look with a neat, white, quilted Chanel bag with black trim and instantly recognisable, Chanel two-tone pumps, this was a simple, but stylish smart casual outfit, that oozed Quiet Luxury, and I've found just the pieces to help recreate the look.

Leaning into the power of jeans and a white tee, this is a summer combo not to be overlooked. While this combo does work at any time of year, the faded wash jeans feel particularly summery and gave a nod to the denim trends of 2025.

The high waist and wide leg delivered a figure-flattering fit, nipping the star in at the waist and balancing out the strong shoulder of the jacket with the wide hemline for an hourglass silhouette.

While no one item in this look stood out, each piece helped to build an ensemble that demonstrated how to dress simply but stylishly to perfection.

Get the Look

As one might expect from a Chanel event, all attendees put their best fashion foot forward for the prestigious event. Dressed head-to-toe in Chanel, Mariska's outfit evoked so many classic hallmarks of the brand, although the high-waisted, wide-legged jeans delivered a refreshing twist to Chanel's timeless bouclé jacket.

Keeping the look simple, Mariska leaned into the Quiet Luxury look that is so popular amongst French women, and it worked to her advantage. While nothing felt overly showy, altogether, the outfit looked expensive, whilst feeling relatable too, a hard line to navigate.

Although the last few months have seen a real push towards the best barrel leg jeans, Mariska returned to a classic wide-leg for this ensemble and while it may not be the trending style, it is a cut always flatters. Balancing proportions, lengthening legs and narrowing waistlines, the high-waisted, wide-leg jean is wardrobe hero.

<![CDATA[ King Charles’s Trooping the Colour choice hints tradition might not be seen again until Prince William reigns ]]> Trooping the Colour is steeped in tradition, but His Majesty made an interesting choice this year, which could suggest one custom is coming to an end - for now, at least. The parade is held in June to celebrate the monarch’s official birthday and King Charles did so many of the things we’ve come to expect.

He took the salute of the regiment whose colours were being trooped, he travelled back to Buckingham Palace waving to the crowds, and watched the fly-past on the balcony with his family. However, unlike the first Trooping the Colour parade of his reign in 2023, King Charles didn’t ride on horseback at the head of the soldiers.

Instead, His Majesty rode with Queen Camilla in a carriage like they did last year (minus the roof that was required in rainy 2024). This makes complete sense in so many ways, though it could also suggest that this tradition won’t be seen again for many years.

The King is still undergoing cancer treatment, and so it might well be more comfortable and simpler for him to travel via carriage rather than riding. According to The Times, the monarch isn’t expected to ride in the parade again, going forwards.

Although he’s an accomplished equestrian, so was the late Queen Elizabeth, and she last rode at Trooping the Colour in 1986 before her horse Burmese retired. At the time, she was 60 and King Charles will be turning 77 on 14th November.

When he rode on horseback at the 2023 parade, this marked the first time a British monarch had done so for almost 40 years. It was also the first Trooping the Colour of his reign, making it extra momentous.

Now he’s done it once, making history, the King’s decision to travel by carriage again this year could indeed indicate that his parade riding days are behind him. If so, we won’t get to see a British monarch riding on horseback at Trooping the Colour for potentially decades.

The next time would be whenever Prince William ascends the throne. A source close to the future King claimed to The Times that he "really enjoys it" and will continue to ride.

Given that both his father and grandmother rode at Trooping the Colour at least once in their respective reigns, I would be surprised if Prince William doesn’t do so when he’s monarch - especially if he likes it so much.

Whether or not the tradition will be upheld after him depends on Prince George’s preference and prowess with equestrianism.

All three of the Wales children are said to have taken to the saddle by now, with The Times reporting in 2021 that they had become "avid riders".

They were allegedly "practising their skills" at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they spent much of the lockdown. The Prince of Wales was said to be "thrilled" that Prince George, Charlotte and Louis had taken up his much-loved hobby.

In contrast, it’s been claimed that the Princess of Wales is allergic to horses. Despite these reports, in 2012 Paralympic medallist Lee Pearson revealed, as per The Telegraph, that she said she was learning to ride.

"Kate said she's learning to ride so I offered to give her some lessons. She held my medals and said how heavy they were, and asked if me if I'd been riding all my life," he disclosed.

<![CDATA[ “There is a better way to go through life” – Mel Robbins shares easy way to let the 'meaningless stuff' go ]]> The New York Times bestselling author Mel Robbins has revealed the 'crazy simple' mantra she uses to reduce stress, worry, annoyance and upset in her life. And says it has helped her take 'power back' and stop focussing on the things she can't control.

During an appearance on This Morning to promote her book The Let Them Theory, motivation, confidence and mindset expert Mel shared how people can 'gain control' of their lives.

"The 'Let Them' theory is a mindset tool that shows you, like that," she said, clicking her fingers, "what's in your control and what's not in your control.

"It's so simple to use. Literally any moment you feel stressed out, worried, annoyed, frustrated, upset, hurt in life, you just say; let them."

Explaining why the simple two word saying is so impactful, she said: "We live in a moment in time where there is so much out of your control." And while she admits: "All that stuff out there, yes, it's real. Yes, it's important. But it doesn't and shouldn't impact you in here," she said, placing her hands to her chest, "to the extent that it does.

"There is a better way to go through life," she added.

Not being impacted by those around you is easier said than done, but Mel reminded us much of what happens in day-to-day life is "beyond your control" and the only way to "gain control of your life" is by "managing" your response to it.

So, instead of trying to manage everybody else, which is "why you're so stressed out," Mel says, she wants you to manage just yourself. "Let's take our power back," she said. "Let me remind myself there's three things in life I can control. I control what I think about this. I control what I do and don't do. I control how I respond to my feelings."

It's one of the most powerful ways to reduce stress and also one of the best ways to look after your mental health, Mel believes, and it's taught her that she can't - and never will - be able to manage other people and their moods or actions.

With over 4 Million copies already sold, Mel Robbins' The Let Them Theory teaches you how to stop wasting energy on what you can't control and helps reframe your mindset so you can start focusing on what truly matters.

"What you'll recognise is, you have no idea how often you allow the world to stress you out," Mel added. "And that's why you're tired. That's why you have no energy.

"When you protect your time and energy from all this meaningless stuff and from things you can't control, you get your time and energy back. It's crazy simple."

This Morning fans were quick to applaud Mel's mantra, with hundreds of people sharing how her insight has already helped to reframe their mindset.

"Yes yes yes! You are so right! I’ve been in this situation and turning to this has been magical," one fan wrote.

"So true," another commented. "We can only control ourselves and our thoughts and mindset as Mel so rightly says - so brilliant." While a third said, "This woman is incredible ... game changer for me. I need to practise this."

<![CDATA[ Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte’s special decision at Trooping the Colour signals an old custom is coming back ]]> Trooping the Colour is a highlight of the Royal Family’s summer calendar and unlike last year’s parade, the 2025 event was gloriously sunny. This meant we got to see even more of the Princess of Wales and her children as they travelled by open-top carriage (and not by covered car).

Kate and Princess Charlotte sat side-by-side to travel down the Mall and as soon as I saw them, something struck me. You should never underestimate the amount of consideration that goes into every royal outfit and the Princesses were both wearing turquoise with ivory detailing.

This won’t have been a coincidence and I think the decision to have a mother-and-daughter matching moment at Trooping the Colour signals a return to an old tradition. They abandoned it for several years, but Princess Charlotte has been Kate’s mini-me at the parade surprisingly often.

The first time Prince William and Kate brought their daughter to mark the monarch’s official birthday was in 2016. The future Queen wore a coat dress in the softest shade of petal pink and Charlotte’s outfit and Mary Jane shoes were also blossom-hued.

A year later, the two royals upped the brightness and the Princess of Wales went for a vivid candy pink dress. The then-two-year-old Princess Charlotte wore an adorable bubblegum-coloured dress with puffed sleeves and a scalloped collar.

Just when it looked like they were sold on pink being their go-to tone for Trooping the Colour outfits, in 2018, mother and daughter switched things up and stepped out in soft aqua-blue. This was the last time - until 2024 - that Kate and Charlotte coordinated.

Although the Princess of Wales did have navy blue on her hat in 2022, it wasn’t too similar in colour to Princess Charlotte’s baby blue frock. However, last year the matching looks were back in action in the chicest way.

Kate made a rare appearance at Trooping the Colour amid her cancer treatment and wore an elegant white and navy blue ensemble with a statement bow. Her daughter also went for navy and white, but with the amounts of each shade opposite to her mum’s dress.

After a few years of going for different colours, I wasn’t sure if this was a one-off, so I was excited to see Kate and Charlotte in their turquoise dresses on 14th June. The future Queen’s vibrant coat dress was by one of her favourite British clothing brands, Catherine Walker.

(Image credit: Composite of a picture of Kate Middleton and a picture of Princess Charlotte wearing the same colour outfits at Trooping the Colour in 2019 and 2024)

Princess Charlotte’s dress was slightly paler and the neckline was trimmed in white. There was a contrasting white panel at the waist and these details echoed the ivory cuffs and collar on the Princess of Wales’s outfit.

The coordination between the two royals created a lovely sense of cohesion and family unity. It could be seen as a special nod to their bond and perhaps also of Charlotte’s admiration for Kate and her style, as the ten-year-old likely has more of an input into her outfits now than she did as a very young child.

Instead of one particular outfit drawing the eye more than the other, both were in harmony and also worked well with the navy suits and white ties worn by Prince George and Charlotte.

I’m already looking forward to the parade next year and hope that the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte’s renewed love for matching outfits will continue.

<![CDATA[ Gillian Anderson has given this summer's 'ice cream manicure' her seal of approval ]]> If you're looking for the perfect sheer and chic manicure to make your summer signature, behold: Gillian Anderson's ice cream nails...

As far as the 2025 nail trends go, milky and understated have been the main, long-running themes, and while summer is set to usher in some vibrant looks - like sorbet nails and punchy peach shades, one subtle design is already topping the list. Dubbed the 'ice-cream manicure,' this particular design combines a soft, pink base with an ultra-subtle creamy ombre-like French tip, and so far, it's proving very popular, especially on the red carpet.

In fact, Gillian Anderson sported the look at Cannes, solidifying it in our minds as the ultimate elevated manicure for the summer season.

The Gillian Anderson-approved summer manicure to request

Ice-cream nails are the latest iteration of a milky manicure currently making waves, following the rise of soap nails and popular spring nail colour, Lavender Milk. Its creamy look makes it very versatile, but its delicate, gradient tip also offers a slight elevation on block neutral nails.

The finish is classy, especially if you pair it with an almond nail shape and from the looks of it, that's exactly what Gillian Anderson did at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Sharing an Instagram carousel including behind-the-scenes snaps of Anderson getting red carpet-ready, nail artist Chiara Ballisai also treated us to a few up-close pictures of her chic manicure.

As we can see, the base colour is a pink, sheer nail polish, which then appears to transition subtly into an almost undetectably creamy-white tip. The pairing is very natural, while the choice of almond nails adds an extra touch of elegance, making it ideal for summery occasions or when you just want an expensive-looking manicure. That said, this sheer style will also look very chic on neat short nails.

Recreate Gillian Anderson's manicure

While Anderson's nail artist didn't share the exact polish shades behind the look, we do know that Joonbyrd handcare products were used to hydrate and prep the star's hands.

So, we've not only rounded up two nail polishes that are perfect for recreating this design, but also a few of the brand's best-selling hand treatments, to enhance your at-home manicure.

<![CDATA[ Julianne Moore confirms that this sandal style is set to be the most coveted summer shoe trend ]]> Studded sandals are fast becoming summer's most sought-after shoe style, and Julianne Moore's recent outing in London, wearing a pair of black studded Khaite sandals, finished with a refined minimalist outfit, has confirmed that I, too, want to get behind this look.

The shoe trends of 2025 have seen a strong resurgence of bohemian themes and motifs, and the revival of the studded sandal is an extension of the boho chic's return. Khaite's Boden Sandals are the perfect example of how this trend has evolved - less about heavy embellishments and more about thoughtfully considered detailing.

Other high-end fashion houses, including Isabel Marant and Valentino, have also confirmed studs being in favour with metal embellished sandals, wedges, and even leather loafers being spotted amongst their summer collections.

Arriving at the BBC on Monday, Moore wore black studded sandals, paired with soft white wide-leg trousers, a cropped knitted pullover with a polo-style neck, and some oversized brown aviator sunglasses. Confirming that this sandal style certainly deserves a spot in your current warm-weather shoe rotation.

I'm currently on the hunt for the best high street lookalike for Moore's sandals, and Mango's Studded Leather Sandals are a strikingly similar alternative that won't cost you a fortune. Shop below for more options.

Shop similar sandal styles

Shop the rest of the look

What's great about this minimalist outfit is how wearable it is. Soft white trousers in either a breathable linen or a lightweight cotton material paired with some open-toe studded sandals are effortlessly chic. And opting for this embellished shoe style means that you don't need to overthink the rest of your look because they become the focal point of the entire outfit.

If you're looking to invest in one sandal this summer, make it a studded pair. You could opt for a flat sole for laid-back styling to pair with your favourite denim jeans, or for elevated dressing, shop platformed or heeled wedge studded options such as these from Anthropologie.

The monochromatic ensemble is always a winner, and while most would think to do black trousers and a white top, flipping this look on its head gives a refreshing and modern take on what will always be a timeless pairing.

<![CDATA[ Thought Prince Louis was quiet during Trooping the Colour? Duchess Sophie helped sneak in playful moment on the balcony ]]> Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has been dubbed the “fun aunt” by royal fans after a moment of playful behaviour with Prince Louis during Trooping the Colour.

As has become normal for any major royal event where Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children will be in attendance, fans were eager to see what antics their youngest would get up to.

From poking fun at his older brother Prince George, to playing with the crowds, Louis always puts on quite the show. And the royal parade yesterday was no exception.

Louis delighted fans as he mimicked his grandfather, King Charles, waving to the crowds. Every time Louis waved, the crowd cheered, which he was visibly delighted by. So much so Prince George had to go full big brother and nudge his little brother to stop.

But it was a moment between the young Prince and Duchess Sophie that really warmed our hearts. The pair were pictured having some cheeky fun, with Prince Louis pulling a funny face at his great aunt. While Sophie's faced is obscured, we can imagine her joining in with his playful moment.

Will Louis eventually grow out of this and start acting more serious like George? Time will tell (but we really hope not).

While Louis was still playful at Trooping the Colour, he was already showing a calmer side – lest we forget him having to be told off by Kate Middleton and Mike Tindall at the 2022 Platinum Jubilee. And his good behaviour might have to do with Duchess Sophie.

Sophie’s close relationship with Princess Charlotte is already well known, and it’s rumoured the Duchess stepped in to help with the Wales children as the Princess of Wales faced her cancer treatment.

Sophie is the children’s great-aunt, but it’s clear she enjoys a close relationship with them – and that they adore her.

She still has time to have fun with her own, grown up nephew, too. William and Sophie enjoyed a rare joint appearance earlier in the month, visiting the Royal Cornwall Show, where the pair enjoyed a couple of sneaky shots together. She truly is the fun aunt!

<![CDATA[ A royal tribute to fatherhood: King Charles and Prince William celebrate Father's Day with rare and revealing family photos ]]> The royals have shared sweet tributes to the fathers, past and present, in touching never-before-seen photos to celebrate Father’s Day.

Just a day after the family were all together for Trooping the Colour, which saw Kate and Charlotte shine in matching outfits and Prince Louis won the crowd over with his hilarious behaviour, the royals are celebrating again.

Posting to the official Prince and Princess of Wales social media account, a heart-warming post from the Wales children was shared wishing their “Papa” a happy day.

The tribute from Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis includes two photos, one beautifully posed and staged, with all of them hugging and smiling sweetly.

The second photo is much more relatable to parents everywhere and captures the chaos that goes into getting everyone to smile for the camera. Fallen over in the grass, the three children are piling on top of their Dad who is caught laughing under the bedlam.

The caption to the post read, “Happy Father’s Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L.”

In a break from recent tradition for special family events including Charlotte's 10th birthday, the photos weren’t taken by the Princess of Wales - both photographs were taken by Josh Shinner in Norflok this year.

Over on the official account for the Royal Family, King Charles and Queen Camilla shared two photos with their fathers.

For His Majesty, an old photo from his childhood, with a young Prince Philip pushing Charles and Princess Anne on a swing. Capturing a slice of royal life we seldom see, fans are loving this playful side.

The second photo shared is from Charles and Camilla’s 2005 wedding day, with Her Majesty smiling warmly alongside her father, Bruce Shand.

Camilla’s father was a former officer in the British Army, who served during the Second World War. He died in 2006, aged 89.

Fans absolutely loved the rare and revealing photos from the royals.

One fan commented, "Happy Father’s Day to you Prince William and thank you to the Kensington Palace team that made these beautiful pictures to share with all of us."

Another called out a touching likeness to another late royal, sharing "A very lovely family. I can see the resemblance to the late Queen Elizabeth in the two boys."

<![CDATA[ Big news! Nobody’s Child now has a shoe range - this covetable collection ticks off every summer footwear trend ]]> Since it launched back in 2015, British clothing brand Nobody’s Child has become a much-loved brand that is worn and adored by fashion fans and celebrities alike.

It’s one of my favourite shopping destinations and whether I'm on the hunt for a dress or a shirt, I often find exactly what I’m looking for from the current collection. The covetable pieces all come with chic detailing, modern silhouettes or wow-worthy prints, and the range covers everything from casual daytime basics to fancy occasionwear.

I didn’t think it could get any better, but my love for the brand just grew deeper as I've just discovered they now have a shoe collection, and this new footwear drop is absolutely perfect for the sunny season.

The collection covers a wide range of gorgeous flats which all have a fresh yet timeless feel to them that means they will make a wise investment buy for the warm weather, but will still look great next summer and beyond.

Each pair manages to tick off key spring/summer fashion trends while being brilliantly wearable. The only problem I have is deciding which pair to go for...!

Shop the collection

I like all of the shoes in the range, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would be the cross-strap chunky sandals as I feel like they have a smarter feel that will add a polished footnote to any look while being very comfy to wear and fuss-free to style up. Whichever pair you go for, though, I guarantee you will be wearing them for years to come.

Nobody's Child was already a hero fashion destination, and now that there are shoes on offer, I have even more of a reason to visit the site. Be quick to get your hands (or feet!) on some of these sandals, though, as I predict this collection will be a total sell-out.

<![CDATA[ Jennifer Garner makes a convincing case for bringing this nostalgic '90s hair trend into 2025 ]]> When it comes to A-listers, one thing's for certain: you can always trust them to set beauty trends - whether that's on red carpets or posting on social media.

While it's natural for us to be talking all things 2025 hair trends, it certainly wasn't on our bingo card to be discussing the possible revival of a popular '90s hair trend over three decades later. Well, here we are, and we have Jennifer Garner to thank for that.

To keep you in the loop, the actress took to her social media to debut a head full of chunky blonde highlights - and we think it's such a chic way to switch up and elevate your hair for the sunnier months.

The 90's hair trend Jennifer Garner is bringing into 2025

Posting to Instagram, Jennifer Garner shared a collection of photos that offered a rare insight into what she had been up to during the month of May. But it was the first picture, or more specifically, her hair, that grabbed our attention.

While we've been treated to the likes of ombré, balayage and 'Teddy Blonde' gaining popularity in recent years, all of which pride themselves on their seamless blending of hues, the actress's hair revived the popular '90s chunky highlights trend.

Garner's brunette locks have a brighter tone, with piece-y caramel blonde strands. This creamy hue gave the actress's hair a vibrant refresh that makes it perfectly fitting for the summer months ahead.

As for styling, Jennifer sported a forehead-sweeping side-part and effortlessly soft curls, which can easily be achieved by using one of the best curling irons.

Recreate Jennifer Garner's curly strands

As seen on Jennifer, curly hair is a great way to showcase the true dimension of highlighted strands. So, for those looking to recreate the actress's look at home, you'll be pleased to know that it's incredibly easy to achieve; you'll just need to equip your arsenal with the following buys.

<![CDATA[ Why does my eye twitch? Dr Amir Khan reveals the reasons behind 5 relatable but 'totally random' symptoms ]]> Why does my eye twitch? Why can I only have one cup of coffee before needing the loo? Why do I only feel anxious at night? All valid questions, says Dr Amir Khan. Unless you're having other symptoms, though, it's unlikely you'd visit the doctor to talk about them.

And nor should you need to, as these are all common symptoms that, on their own, mean very little. However, it's good to know where some of our more bizarre bodily functions come from, and to check that they are not some of the vague symptoms we shouldn't ignore.

"Most of these symptoms are completely harmless, but if they're persistent or affecting your quality of life, that's when it's time to speak to your doctor," he says.

The doctor, who is a frequent guest on Lorraine and This Morning, and woman&home's resident GP, shared the answers to these questions and more in an Instagram video this week.

Why does my eye twitch?

If your eyelid is twitching, seemingly for no reason, like it's doing its "own little dance", there's no need to worry.

"That's called myochimia," he says. "It's a spontaneous, involuntary muscle contraction. Usually, of a particular muscle in the eyelid and triggered by things like caffeine, fatigue, or stress."

It might feel odd, but it's a benign condition. The only reason to see a GP about it would be if it "spreads beyond the eye" or lasted for more than a few weeks.

Why do I always need the loo after a coffee?

If you need the loo immediately after your morning coffee, you're not alone, the doctor says. It's a very common symptom - and one that's linked to our gut health.

"Have you ever noticed how coffee goes straight through you, particularly first thing in the morning? That's thanks to your gastrocolic reflex, a natural response where stretching the stomach sends signals to the colon to get moving."

Caffeine makes this response stronger by stimulating the release of gastrin, a hormone that promotes digestion and contraction of the bowels, and increases movement in the gut overall.

"It's especially strong after fasting overnight," he adds. "It's not diarrhoea, it's just your gut waking up to its clock and doing its job."

Why do I get short of breath while talking?

If you regularly exercise and climb the stairs without an issue, you might be wondering why sometimes you can't hold a conversation without needing to take a deep breath.

"It could be a breathing pattern disorder, sometimes called dysfunctional breathing," explains Dr Khan. "This means your breathing is shallow, rapid, and mainly upper chest-based instead of coming from the diaphragm.

"It can be caused by chronic stress or anxiety, habitual overbreathing, or poor posture or poor vocal use."

Why do I only feel stressed or anxious at night?

Speaking of anxiety, the doctor says it's very common to have feeling of heighted stress, anxiety, or even pain at night, but be totally fine during the day.

As well as having more space to think when you're winding down for bed, Dr Khan says that hormone levels could be to blame for our intense emotions.

"Our cortisol levels drop in the evening. Cortisol is an anti-inflammatory hormone, so without it, pain and swelling can feel worse. Also, your circadian rhythm shifts, making your body more sensitive to stimuli at night," he says.

Why do I sweat when I'm nervous?

"Ever notice your hands, feet, or back start sweating just from nerves or stress? This is emotional sweating. It's involves sweat glands in your palms, soles, and armpits, and is triggered by your parasympathetic nervous system. That's the fight or flight response," the doctor explains.

While regular sweating from exercise helps cool the body down, emotional sweating happens due to psychological stress.

None of these symptoms is a sign that your body is "malfunctioning", says Dr Khan. "It's just doing its thing." The only reason to be concerned is if the symptoms last for longer than you'd expect or if you start experiencing them elsewhere in the body, too.

<![CDATA[ Natalie Portman’s white shirt and pretty pink midi skirt is the vintage-inspired combination that will always look chic ]]> It’s hard to describe just how much I love Natalie Portman’s latest outfit, and I think you'll love it too. Particularly if you're wondering what to wear to Wimbledon this year!

The actress was spotted watching a tennis match at the French Open in Paris last week, wearing a timeless white shirt and pink A-line skirt combination, and she finished it with a retro-style straw hat and oversized shades. It’s a total fashion fail-safe formula and has such a pretty feel for a sunny day – I adore everything about it.

The celebrity styled her button-down top and skirt brilliantly, and as well as topping it off with her Christian Dior headgear, she rolled up her sleeves and popped up her collar to add a little extra oomph. The look had a lovely vintage vibe to it, but manages to feel fresh and fun, and Natalie proves that sometimes wearing simple separates like these together can make just as much of a statement as something much more bold and fussy.

I will definitely be recreating her look for a summer party or a sunny brunch date, and I have rounded up some similar pieces below that will do the job nicely.

A bold pink skirt like Natalie’s has plenty of styling opportunities and can work for a whole host of daytime or evening occasions. Wear yours with crisp white separates like the celebrity, or add a silver sequin vest and heels for something a little more special.

You can give your colour pop piece a much more casual spin with a light grey knit and your best white trainers, too.

<![CDATA[ Lucy Liu’s platform trainers are the comfy and stylish way to elevate a summer dress instead of heels ]]> I used to love wearing heels. I had so many pairs of stilettos, wedges and chunky platforms and would happily strut about the office or dance the night away in them, often ignoring the aches and blisters on my soles because of how good they looked with my outfit.

A few years and two children later, I avoid any kind of heel at all costs. I love how they look, but as a busy mum, I feel like I need to be able to move fast, and I prefer shoes that I can wear all day with zero complaints or discomfort. Even on a rare night out, I will opt for shiny loafers or my leopard print ballet flats.

I’m always in flat shoes, and more often than not, I will finish an outfit with my most comfortable trainers before heading out the door. In all honesty, though, sometimes when I'm wearing a floaty sundress or a slip skirt, I do miss the extra height that heels gave me, so when I spotted Lucy Liu’s platform sneakers, I wanted them immediately.

Earlier this month, the star stepped out in a pair of Converse Run Star Hike Ox Platform Trainers, which are a fresh white pair of lace-ups with minimal black details and a very chunky platform sole for some extra lift. You're probably familiar with Converse low-top trainers, but these are another level of luxury.

The actress wore a floral mini dress with a bright red shoulder bag, and her elevated shoe added a sporty footnote that really worked. The chunkier shoe is the perfect blend of comfort and height, and I for one, will be investing in a pair for summer.

When it comes to styling your jumbo-soled trainers, simply wear them as you would any of your other sneakers. The extra height lends itself well to longer length dresses and skirts, but they will work brilliantly with cropped denim or a pair of striped trousers.

The sporty style will give you some lift and lengthen the appearance of your legs, but they will support your feet better than classic heels to keep you comfy on even the busiest of days.

<![CDATA[ Want to look put-together with minimal effort? Jennifer Aniston’s summer outfit has the answer ]]> We've all got a simple pair of slip-on sandals hiding in the wardrobe - pairing them with a striking and colourful outfit like Jennifer Aniston's tie-dye mini dress and denim jacket pairing is a great way to create an impactful look.

Neutrals, dainty floral patterns and crisp, fresh white shades are musts in any summer capsule wardrobe if you want to create a versatile and ultra wearable collection of clothes to see you through the season. But while we love a good basic, Jennifer Aniston reminded us a few statement pieces are equally as important - and they can take our more simple staples to a whole new level.

Showing us exactly how to style up our most simple summer sandals in a look from back in 2013, Jen paired a statement tie-dye mini dress with a sturdy denim jacket and pair of flat, strappy sandals. A decade on, her look is just as effortless and cool as when she first stepped out in it, with the timeless and classic staples of a trusty denim jacket (featuring prominently in our 2025 denim trends round-up) and comfy strappy sandals never going out of style.

Jen's lowkey look is one woman&home's Digital Fashion Writer, Molly Smith, appreciates: "I love this outfit; it's giving off that well-loved boho aesthetic, that looks effortlessly cool on almost anyone. Plus the flowy silhouette of the dress with the fitted denim jacket is incredibly flattering. Layering a short jacket over a loose dress is a styling hack that looks great on a variety of body types too, perfect for the warmer weather."

No matter which colour suits you best, Jen's outfit is one that has us keen to try out all-over blue tones. Especially with the tie-dye bringing some variation to the bold and bright hue, it feels much more laid-back and chilled than some of the brighter colours we see with monochrome outfits and other colour trends, especially with the denim bringing in added texture to the outfit.

Keeping things relaxed with the jacket sleeves rolled down and buttons left open, Jen slipped into a pair of utterly timeless brown leather strappy sandals. Sleek and simple, they are a style that wouldn't seem out of place on holiday nor on a hot day in a city, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe.

To accessorise the free-flowing, tiered mini, Jen finished her outfit off with a pair of basic black aviator style sunglasses and a long silver chain necklace added even more wearability to Jen's outfit of choice - making it so easy to take inspiration from.

<![CDATA[ Prince Charming: Louis wins over the crowd copying his grandfather at Trooping the Colour ]]> The Trooping the Colour parade is held every June to mark the monarch’s official birthday – but even though it was King Charles’ big day, it was Prince Louis who, once again, was the real crowd pleaser.

Joining his family - including his mum and sister who had a matching moment in shades of turquoise - Louis was all smiles as he rode in a carriage with his siblings and excitedly watched the Red Arrows flypast from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Louis, the youngest child of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, is no stranger to stealing the show at these events, whether it’s being a little naughty at the Platinum Jubilee concert or most recently teasing his older brother at the VE Day celebrations.

The seven-year-old was met with roaring cheers from fans outside Buckingham Palace as he adorably copied his grandfather’s regal wave.

Louis even made sure to give the crowd exactly what they were after, as he couldn’t resist sneaking in one last wave even after his family had turned to go back inside the palace.

Earlier on in the day, Louis had fans in hysterics thanks to his toothy grin, when he seemed to be cracking up his older brother in the carriage procession.

A lip reader for The Sun reportedly captured the sweet moment between the brothers, and suggests Louis was egging on his brother to share a moment.

Louis was seen turning to his brother to ask, "Should I wave?"

"It's up to you,” George reportedly replied, before – in true British nature – added, “I can't believe how sunny it is.”

An excited Louis apparently then told his brother, “Let's do it together.”

Back on the balcony, the King and Queen Camilla were clearly enjoying the high-spirited nature of the day and were seen smiling and pointing along with their grandson.

Louis and Charles’ adorable relationship is well known, with Louis eager to sit on his grandfather’s knee during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Previously, during a 2018 interview for Prince, Son & Heir – Charles at 70, Queen Camilla shared how, despite his title, Charles is just like any other doting grandfather. She said of how he acts with her own grandchildren, "He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my Grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him."

<![CDATA[ Postcard prints are everywhere right now – it’s the fun fashion trend I'll be investing in for my upcoming holidays ]]> If, like me, you have a holiday booked for summer, you're probably busy dreaming about sandy shores and what to pack in your suitcase. I've been browsing for some new pieces to wear in the sun, and while doing so, I’ve noticed a trend emerging that seems to be popping up at most brands - and that’s postcard prints.

Everywhere I’ve looked recently, I've found shirts, trousers, and dresses covered with cheerful fruit, florals and beachy prints that look like a snapshot from an exotic getaway and have a playful feel to them that I love. The sketched designs are perfect for wearing while you are away, but also for adding a little vacay-vibe to your wardrobe if you haven’t got any trips in the diary.

The look is bold and bright, but very wearable, and it’s a spring/summer trend that I will definitely be investing in for the coming weeks. I have fallen particularly hard for the Nobody’s Child Cassidy dress, which is covered in an illustrated stamp-style print and comes complete with ruffles and a tiered skirt detail. It’s probably my favourite postcard piece so far, but there are so many to choose from. I have rounded up some of the best below.

Wish you were here! Shop the postcard print trend

While the postcard prints are bright and busy, they can be worn and styled in the same way as your favourite animal print separates or floral pieces. I will team a patterned shirt with jeans or a swishy skirt, and a dress will look great all by itself with just a pair of wedges and a straw bag.

Postcard prints are bursting with summer joy, and I promise that whichever piece you go for, it’ll transport you into holiday mode every time you wear it.

<![CDATA[ Like mother, like daughter: Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte shine in touches of turquoise at Trooping the Colour ]]> As the sun shone for Trooping the Colour 2025 – the annual military parade celebrating the monarch’s official birthday – all eyes were on Catherine, Princess of Wales and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, in their co-ordinated outfits.

Riding in a carriage with her three children, Kate Middleton practically glowed in the summer sunshine wearing a bright, turquoise coatdress with crisp colour blocks of white on the collar and sleeves.

For the parade, the Princess of Wales turned to one of her go-to designers, Catherine Walker, opting for the brand’s Bria coatdress, described online as a deep aquamarine wool coatdress with ivory contrast lapels and cuffs.

The Princess of Wales matched her coatdress with a jade side-sweep hat with bow detailing from Juliette Millinery. The elegant wide-brimmed hat is very in keeping with styles we’ve seen Kate wear before, and it featured a sweeping design that rises up at one side for a dramatic flair. The fine straw base – perfect for summer occasion dressing, like outdoor weddings or what to wear to the races - is adorned with a stylish bow with gold lurex edging.

Catherine was also wearing the Bahrain pearl drop earrings, formerly belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, Kate’s best accessory might have been her only daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The adorable ten-year-old royal matched her mum in a lighter shade of the same colour, and her dress also included subtle pops of white and ivory, including a bow fastening around the waist.

It’s understood that Kate and Charlotte didn’t just opt for the summery hue because of the time of year, but it’s a nod to the blue plume of St Patrick’s blue which is the colour worn on the right side of the bearskin worn by the Irish Guards.

As Princess of Wales, Catherine has acted as Colonel of the Irish Guards since 2022. Touchingly, the turquoise shade might also have a connection to Prince William. William was made Colonel-in-Chief of the 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, and they are known for their pale blue berets and colours.

That often includes the Princess of Wales, Zara Tindall and Anna Wintour, who always bring their A-game when it comes to their outfit choices.

If you're lucky enough to have a ticket to SW19, you're probably wondering what to wear to Wimbledon. One of the big names who consistently aces it with her wardrobe is Sienna Miller, and I’m already excited to see if she'll be there this year. The star always looks fabulous, and the stunning polka dot shirt and skirt ensemble she opted for in summer 2024 was up there with her best.

Sienna wore a matching white cropped blouse and swishy skirt by Prada, and each piece was covered with mini brown spots. The actress finished it with a simple white bag and strappy heels, and it was the perfect look for a day at Centre Court.

I imagine that there will be plenty of dotty dresses and skirts at the sporting event this year (which starts on 30th June, and runs until 13th July), as polka dots are a huge spring/summer fashion trend. I have rounded up some winning designer copycats below to recreate Sienna's look, whatever your budget.

When it comes to trying this patterned trend, you have plenty of options. Wear a matching set like Sienna, simply pair up a spotted blouse with your best barrel leg jeans, or add a colour pop T-shirt to a dotted skirt and sandal combination.

Spots are an evergreen print that will work seamlessly from season to season and year to year, so find your piece now and you’ll love it forever.

<![CDATA[ Patsy Palmer championed the ultimate healthy, glowing complexion at the Soap Awards 2025 ]]> Patsy Palmer's enviably glowing complexion at the 2025 Soap Awards is a masterclass in understated occasion-ready makeup - and we know the exact products behind the look.

One of the best bronzers or the best liquid blush can make all the difference to your makeup look, whether that be sculpting your complexion, adding a healthy flush of colour or unlocking a radiant glow. These formulas work to enhance your facial features and cohesively bring any look together.

That's where Patsy Palmer comes into the mix. The actress nailed her cheek makeup on last week's red carpet, and her makeup has spilled how to achieve said healthy glow for any upcoming event this summer.

Why we're recreating Patsy Palmer's cheek makeup for every upcoming event

Stepping out at the British Soap Awards 2025, Palmer stunned in a cobalt blue tailored ensemble, pairing a cropped square-neck top with coordinating wide-leg trousers and a blazer. While we were inspired by her standout outfit and beautifully highlighted cascading curly locks, it was her glowing complexion that really caught our eye.

The actress opted for a subtle sun-kissed bronzer around the perimeters of her complexion, before placing a coral blush onto the apples of her cheeks, giving a softly lifted appearance. The look was then completed with a luminous highlighter that was placed on the high points of her cheekbones, which acted as the pièce de résistance for her radiant complexion.

The combination of the trio of cheek products were seamlessly blended, working in harmony to give her skin a healthy, natural-looking flushed appearance.

This look not only works for daytime makeup, whether you're heading into the office or for lunch with your friends, but is also perfect for any evening events you have in the diary - especially for those wanting to take a minimalist, pared-back approach.

Recreate Patsy Palmer's healthy glow

Wondering how Patsy achieved the lit-from-within look? The actress' makeup artist, Yasmina Bentaieb, has lifted the lid on the products used to create the healthy glow. So, we can recreate the look for ourselves.

<![CDATA[ I’m calling it – Pamela Anderson’s vintage-inspired outfit is one of her most fabulous looks ever ]]> Pamela Anderson has always looked great, but when it comes to her wardrobe, I feel like she has really upped her game over the last few months. Whether it’s daytime or a red carpet event, she has nailed it with her outfits time and time again.

I adored her silver embellished dress at the Met Gala 2025, and last month she wore this all-white outfit, complete with an oversized hat that was absolutely gorgeous. But I’m going to make a bold statement and declare that her latest outfit is probably her most fabulous so far.

Last week while out in New York, the 57-year-old star wore the Marni Poplin Mermaid Shirt Dress in white, which was covered in a bold red rose print. She styled it with a pair of Gianvito Rossi court shoes, oversized sunglasses and a white chiffon scarf wrapped around her head that added a touch of old school Hollywood glamour. It’s a look that has a very strong Marilyn Monroe vibe to it and manages to feel very elegant while still being full of fun.

This petal-powered combination is perfect if you're wondering what to wear to Royal Ascot, or for a cocktail party, and I have tracked down some similar red and white patterned pieces below to recreate the star's statement outfit.

I love that Pamela used colour pop shoes to finish her outfit, but a timeless pair of gold strappy sandals or a black mule would look just as stylish.

When it comes to bags and jewellery, keep your accessories simple to let your dress take centre stage - a small clutch or mini top-handle bag in a plain neutral tone will work perfectly with a bold floral design like this.

<![CDATA[ A popular diet has been linked to a 92% reduction in hot flushes, new study reveals ]]> There are lots of proven ways to deal with menopause symptoms like hot flushes, including exercise, avoiding trigger foods, and wearing light clothing. This is one of the few studies suggesting that including more of something in your diet could be the way forward.

The study, published in Menopause, the journal of The Menopause Society, found that following a vegan diet for menopause can significantly reduce the severity of hot flushes.

The results came after researchers reviewed data on the benefits of a low-fat, plant-based diet. After 12 weeks, severe hot flushes were reduced by 92% in a vegan group of participants who supplemented the traditional plant-based diet with soybeans.

No significant changes were seen in the control group that followed an omnivorous diet.

Interestingly, the level of processing in the soybean product didn't make a difference either, confirming experts' theories that animal- and plant-based foods affect our bodies differently, even if they are equally processed.

The soybean-rich diet was also found to help sustainable weight loss, with a mean loss of 3.6kg for the vegan group and 0.2kg in the control group.

"This study highlights the potential positive effects of a plant-based diet rich in soy (regardless of the level of processing) in terms of both hot flash and weight management," said Dr Stephanie Faubion, the medical director for The Menopause Society. "Given these and the other known benefits in terms of lowering heart disease and cancer risk, women in midlife should consider leaning into a plant-based diet."

While this study is unique in linking soybeans of all processing types with a lower severity of hot flushes, it's not the first to suggest a vegan diet for menopause.

Research published in the Complementary Therapies in Medicine found a link between a soybean-rich vegan diet, gut health, and perimenopause. "A vegan diet with soybeans is rich in fibre and compounds called isoflavones, which help increase the abundance of gut bacteria that fight inflammation and stabilise oestrogen levels, which helps fight hot flashes," said Dr Hana Kahleova, the lead author of the study.

"Avoiding meat also helps to decrease the amount [of] gut bacteria linked to increased inflammation," she said.

What are soybeans?

Soybeans are a legume, part of the pea family. They are used to make different foods in Chinese and Japanese cuisine, with the products becoming more popular in the UK in recent years, according to the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

The BDA says some people believe soya foods can reduce the risk of heart disease and a reduction in menopausal symptoms (due to the isoflavones they contain), as the research above found.

Where can you find soya-rich products?

 • Edamame
 • Tofu
 • Soya-based mince and meat alternatives
 • Soya milk
 • Soya-based yogurts
 • Miso
 • Tempeh
 • Soy sauce
 • Some types of protein powder

A note on ultra-processed foods

The study highlights the benefits of a vegan diet for menopause and suggests that, regardless of whether the soybean product is an ultra-processed food or not, you'll see the benefits.

It's important to note that ultra-processed foods have been linked to adverse cardiometabolic and mental health conditions and overall higher mortality risk, so they are not suitable as a large component of any diet.

Where possible, soya-rich natural foods and products that have undergone limited production will be best. Edamame, for example.

<![CDATA[ Princess Eugenie makes styling halternecks look easy as she returns to current favourite frock with comfy kitten heel mules ]]> There are some necklines I’m instantly drawn to and others - like halternecks - that I need a bit of inspiration to try on. When you’re not sure what to wear in the heat, the breezier a design the better, and halternecks often fit into this category.

The lack of sleeves is the most obvious plus point and this neckline also feels quite vintage and chic. Knowing how to style halternecks isn’t something I’m an expert in, so it was great to see Princess Eugenie showing how it's done.

As Global Ambassador for The Coral Collective, the King’s niece attended the exclusive opening of the Thirty Six For Coral art exhibition in France on 12th June. Just like many of us, she wasn’t afraid to re-wear a tried and tested combination for the event: her Rebecca Vallance orchid dress and Staud satin mules.

Shop Princess Eugenie's Dress

This was the same stylish combination Princess Eugenie wore to Chelsea Flower Show in May and I wouldn’t be surprised if the dress and slip-ons get another chance to shine this summer too. Although she often champions the best British clothing brands, Rebecca Vallance is an Australian designer whose pieces are also regularly worn by the royals.

Made from a linen blend, it has a collared neckline with structured lapels that give it a refined edge. The bodice is fitted and the midi-length skirt flares out into an elegant silhouette.

Running all over the white base is a pattern of electric blue orchids and vines that bring added brightness. Part of why I love the Princess’s frock so much is because it feels sophisticated, whereas some halterneck pieces can be a bit too revealing or beachy-casual.

Princess Eugenie stands listening as she attends the launch of

Shop Mules

I can imagine this as a date night outfit, as well as something you could wear to a family BBQ or a garden party. When you’re looking for a halterneck dress, consider something that has a classic shape like fit-and-flare or A-line, and is generally neutral in colour.

The white background tone of Princess Eugenie’s dress balances the blue flowers and I’d recommend following a similar approach. If you choose a halterneck dress which is mainly black, white or a tone you wear consistently, you’ll always be able to find accessories that complement the outfit.

To make it slightly more relaxed the royal could have worn trainers but she went for camel satin heels from Straud. Kitten heeled mules were a clever pairing as they are comfortable and quick to slip on and off and yet look quite glamorous.

Princess Eugenie painted her toenails red and they were just visible through the peep-toe cut-out. The warm weather required a breathable outfit and she spoke at the launch of the exhibition, which coincided with the UN Oceans Conference.

Her Royal Highness is a member of the Thirty Six For Coral art committee and helped to shape the exhibition, which includes 36 original works from artists including Rocco Ritchie and Vik Muniz. The online auction is running until 22nd June and proceeds go to support coral reef protection and global restoration efforts.

Speaking to Marie Claire, Princess Eugenie described coral reefs as the "rainforest of the sea" that "support billions of human lives".

"Across the planet, coral reefs are in trouble. The loss of coral reefs could be the first functional climate extinction in our lifetime," she declared.

<![CDATA[ Ricki Lake reminded us that whatever the weather, an all-black ensemble always works ]]> Sighted in SoHo, New York, Ricki Lake looked ideally dressed for the changeable summer weather. Stepping out in a maxi length, curved V-neck t-shirt dress, teamed with a leather bomber jacket, statement earrings and big, hefty heels, the all black ensemble ensured the star looked understated but put together.

While we'd love a summer filled with balmy weather, history suggests that isn't what we get, so having a great layering piece to solve what to wear over a dress, even in the warmer months, is a good idea. A leather or denim jacket is a strong choice, as they're just the right weight for spring and mild summer temperatures.

Selecting a trending bomber jacket, elevated by the leather fabric, Ricki Lake's pared-back but thoughtful outfit is such an easy one to recreate; in fact, you probably have lots of the items already in your summer capsule wardrobe.

Ricki Lake knows that even in summer, an all-black look is timeless

If you're ever having a sartorial meltdown, an all-black ensemble is one you can rely on. Everything will go, and this colourway always appears polished.

Opting for a deep neckline, Ricki Lake ensured that there was still plenty of light around her face, making this a flattering look. She added a pop of colour and further brightness with a pair of 3D floral earrings, offering a big nod to the jewellery trends of 2025.

The cropped leather bomber jacket, with subtle ribbed panels at the hem, helped to draw the eye in at her smallest part, creating a narrowed waistline, for a flattering, hourglass silhouette, balancing the star's proportions.

Finishing her look with a statement shoe, a great choice when going for a solid colour outfit, Ricki Lake selected the now sold-out Shoreditch High Platform from British brand Kurt Geiger. Decorated in embossed colourful stars, the platform shoes lengthened the star's silhouette, and ensured her dress hemline avoided sweeping the floor.

An easy look to recreate for the months ahead, a maxi dress is always a key part of a summer wardrobe. Wearable at home, to work or on holiday, this timeless design can be dressed up or down, making it a brilliant investment.

Get the look

In a sea of celebrity looks, Ricki Lake's is not the boldest, but it is one we want in our arsenal, because sometimes simplicity and understated style is all you need.

Turning to a block colour palette, Ricki has taken out the hard work of matching up several hues, relying on a timeless black dress and an ever-cool leather jacket to ensure she looks polished.

Adding bold touches to finish off her outfit, a pair of statement shoes and trending earrings help to bring her ensemble up-to-date. This is a brilliant style-takeaway to help you refresh classic pieces. Remember, you don't need to re-do your wardrobe every season, with all the trending styles, but a few well-thought-out and directional accessories can make staple items look and feel more timely.

<![CDATA[ Reese Witherspoon’s effortless beach day look is the summer style we're copying ]]> As summer approaches, we're gearing up for hot weather and days spent at the beach. We've found the ideal outfit inspiration for just that in Reese Witherspoon's pretty printed dress, wide-brimmed sunhat and relaxed canvas tote bag pairing.

Posting on Instagram last summer, Reese captioned the snap: "The perfect summer dress doesn’t exi— oh wait, I found it!'" And her fans agree. "You look gorgeous," wrote one. "That dress looks good on you!!" said another.

woman&home's Fashion Ecommerce Editor Caroline Parr explains why this is a look you'll come to rely on when the temperatures rise: "Find the perfect summer dress and you're sorted for the next few months. A roomy tote bag will hold all your essentials, and they're a huge (pardon the pun!) trend right now - look to Katie Holmes and Alexa Chung for more inspiration if you need it."

Shop Reese's summer style

In our minds, this outfit is the perfect summer look. The bold pattern on her dress is a great way to make a statement in the summer months, when layering and adding texture to an outfit is impossible thanks to the heat. But with stunning swirls and flower motifs, plus some striking blue stitching, you get a breezy statement piece that also makes for an ideal holiday style thanks to the Mediterranean feel of the colourway, too.

While the dress is super classic and timeless, Reese gave it a modern edge by adding a boxy beach bag to the look. Reese tagged the clothes as being from Draper James X Kohl's, which is her California lifestyle brand and epitomises the actor's laid-back style.

Reese is wearing the Women's Draper James Embroidered Midi Dress, available in US department store Kohl's, which sadly doesn't ship to the UK. But we've found some great alternatives if you want to mimic Reese's style. Crafted from floaty fabrics that will keep you cool, with elegant and flattering fits, any of these would make a great addition to your summer capsule wardrobe.

<![CDATA[ Emma Willis' latest looks are from my favourite British brand, and I genuinely want them all ]]> Emma Willis has one of those wardrobes that consistently feels really on-trend while still being very relaxed and wearable. The star always looks great, and when it comes to celebrity style inspiration, I often look to her for some smart casual outfit ideas.

The star recently shared a selection of pictures on Instagram showcasing a wide range of her looks, captioning it "When you find a brand that’s just right and you can’t stop wearing it #appreciationpost"

They covered everything from a crisp off-white suit to a boldly striped knit. I ooh-ed and ahh-ed over each piece, so I was delighted to discover that she had tagged her clothing, and it turns out that every item that Emma was wearing was from ME+EM.

ME+EM is a British clothing brand that is well-loved by celebrities, with a number of big-name fans including Katie Holmes and Trinny Woodall. Emma’s recent looks showed exactly why it's so popular, and just how much choice the collection offers. There’s a piece to suit every summer capsule wardrobe, and you can get your hands on the very same hero buys below.

Shop Emma's Picks

I love all of Emma's looks, but the striped jumper is probably up there as one of my favourites. It'll work brilliantly as an easy extra layer on a chilly morning or for when the Great British weather lets us down, and then once Autumn comes around, you can rewear it again and again. Team it with a satin slip skirt or tailored trousers and you'll be all set.

<![CDATA[ What does Trooping the Colour mean, what is this annual royal event and what time does it start? ]]> Rain or shine, Trooping the Colour is a magnificent sight to behold and is a highlight of the royal calendar every year. It’s one of the rare times we get to see so many members of the Royal Family make an appearance together on the Buckingham Palace balcony - or just together in general, outside of Christmas or Easter.

In recent years a new tradition was started for only working royals and their children would step out for the event. However, there’s still plenty who attend, including the entire Wales family.

Not everyone might know exactly what to expect from Trooping the Colour, though, and here we reveal what the name actually means, what it is and the time to watch.

What does Trooping the Colour mean and what is it?

Trooping the Colour is a rather grand and unique name, but it refers to the Regimental Colour or flags of a particular regiment being displayed at a military parade held every June in honour of the monarch’s official birthday.

King Charles’s actual birthday is 14th November and the late Queen Elizabeth’s was 21st April, however June typically has better weather and it’s been suggested that this is a factor in keeping it to this specific month.

(Image credit: Photo by Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images)

As per the British Army website, the ceremony of Trooping the Colour is thought to have first taken place during the reign of King Charles II in the 17th century. In 1748 it was decided that it would be used to mark the Sovereign’s official birthday.

It only became an annual royal event after King George III ascended the throne in 1760. The Guards who take part in Trooping the Colour are drawn from the Regiments of the Sovereign’s Household Troops.

Regiments of Foot Guards are chosen to troop their colours and this changes every year. For Trooping the Colour 2025 the Coldstream Guards will be the ones Trooping their Colour, but last year it was the Irish Guards.

(Image credit: Photo by Chris Jackson/Getty Images)

The Princess of Wales is their Colonel and she made a rare public appearance amid her cancer treatment in 2024 to attend the parade and watch her Regiment. Trooping the Colour isn’t just attended by the royals and one regiment, though.

It’s understood that over 1,350 soldiers of the Household Division and the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will be taking part this year, featuring over 300 musicians from the Massed Bands, as well as 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who line the route.

What happens at Trooping the Colour?

On 14th June, King Charles and other members of the Royal Family will arrive at Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall, close to Buckingham Palace. His Majesty will be greeted with a Royal Salute and then inspect the troops in their ceremonial red uniform and bearskin hats.

The military bands will perform and then the escorted Regimental Colour (flag) will be processed down the ranks of soldiers.

(Image credit: Photo by Rasid Necati Aslim/Anadolu via Getty Images)

Once the Foot Guards have marched past the King, he will travel back to Buckingham Palace at the head of the soldiers. The Sovereign will then take the salute again from a dais and after a short pause he will appear on the balcony alongside his fellow working royals to watch a fly-past by the Royal Air Force.

In nearby Green Park, a 41-gun salute will typically be fired to mark the occasion too.

What time is Trooping the Colour and how can you watch it?

Although you can apply in advance for tickets and can also show up and watch from the streets in London, the BBC will also be broadcasting Trooping the Colour live from 10:30 am BST on Saturday, 14th June until 1:10 pm.

Coverage will be presented by Clare Balding, and the parade itself begins at 10:30 and will finish by 12:25. If you’re particularly interested in watching the fly-past and seeing the Royal Family on the balcony, then make sure you’re tuned in just before 1 pm as this is when it will take place.

<![CDATA[ Yes, UGG boots can work for summer - Demi Moore’s latest outfit proves you shouldn't pack them away just yet ]]> Hot and sunny weather may usually call for your favourite sandals and lighter ballet pumps, but there's no need to say goodbye to your beloved UGGs during the summer. Don’t believe me? Just check out Demi’s recent Instagram snap.

The 62-year-old actress shared a photo of herself wearing a black sporty bomber jacket with matching black jeans, finishing her laid-back ensemble with a pair of what look like Classic Mini UGG boots. The outfit was a low-key yet chic combination, and her snuggly soft footwear was the perfect footnote. The sheepskin shoe style always looks great, and will make a handy pair to have in your summer capsule wardrobe for those inevitable chillier days when the weather lets you down.

The key to making UGGs work for the coming months is to opt for the shorter ankle-high pairs like Demi’s as they won’t feel overly hot on your feet and will sit neatly with your cropped denim or floaty sundresses. Whether you're a long-time fan of the fuzzy-lined boot or looking to invest in a new pair, the star’s look is great inspiration for how to wear them right now.

If you’re unsure about what brand of sheepskin shoe to invest in, our guide to UGG vs Emu boots might help with your decision. As a brand, UGG tends to reign supreme with the fashion set, but there are plenty of options available to suit any budget and personal style.

The key to keeping your sheepskin boots looking chic is to team them with smarter clothing or with separates that have plenty of structure and definition. Wide-leg trousers or a loose maxi dress may look a little cumbersome and unflattering when sitting over fluffy boots, so take note from Demi and opt for skinny denim or tailored bottoms.

<![CDATA[ Duchess Sophie just brought back her high-street rose quartz studs - and they tied in perfectly with her floral silk dress ]]> It’s hard to keep up with the range of jewellery trends that come and go, but the Duchess of Edinburgh tends to stick to what she knows and loves regardless of what’s "in fashion".

I take a similar approach to jewellery as I want to get maximum wear out of my pieces and I loved seeing Sophie step out in an old favourite pair of earrings on 12th June. She was one of several royals who attended a reception for recipients of the King's Award for Enterprise at Windsor Castle and wore her Monica Vinader Siren Stud Earrings.

At £100 they’re one of the most affordable items in her royal jewellery collection and they match the stacking Siren rings that she’s still been sporting a lot recently. The Siren Earrings come in different colourways and Duchess Sophie has the rose gold vermeil and rose quartz ones.

This design is one of Monica Vinader’s best-selling gemstones and the rose quartz is hand-cut, giving each pair of earrings a unique look. You can wear them on their own as the Duchess did or if you have multiple piercings, they’re not so big that you can’t wear them with other items.

Drop earrings are often people’s go-tos for special events in particular and hoops will always be chic. However, I think stud earrings like this can be so much more versatile precisely because they’re understated.

The Duchess of Edinburgh’s earrings would look just as elegant with relaxed looks, smart-casual outfits and occasionwear too. They bring a touch of glamour and these rose quartz earrings tied in with the senior royal’s dress too.

Colour coordination can make a huge difference to your style as it creates a sense of cohesion and polish. One of Duchess Sophie’s most-worn shades all year round, but especially in the warmer months, is pink.

Whether blossom-pink, fuchsia or somewhere in between, she’s probably worn this hue before. For the reception the Duchess opted for a Suzannah London Grandad Silk Tea Dress with dusty pink flowers on a rich, plum-toned background.

The blend of pastel pink and dark purple is an unusual one and having such a stark contrast between the shades makes the pattern stand out even more. It’s crafted from pure silk and has a tea dress silhouette, with a bias-cut midi skirt.

Smocking follows the empire-line seam and also features on the shoulders and cuffs. These details reflect the 1930s inspiration and the Duchess of Edinburgh often favours a vintage-esque design with her dresses.

This piece is a rather luxurious addition to her wardrobe at £1,250, although there are so many floral options around right now as alternatives. They’d make a gorgeous wedding guest dress and tying in your frock with your earrings like Sophie did is a stunning style choice.

She’s had her high-street Siren studs in her collection since at least 2017 and before now, hasn’t been seen wearing them since 2018. That year she pulled them out incredibly regularly and it seems she’s rediscovered them for summer alongside her matching rings.

<![CDATA[ Victoria Beckham's on-trend toe strap sandals, jeans and white shirt styling is the definition of smart casual ]]> Showing us exactly why we should invest in a pair of simple, toe-strap sandals for summer, Victoria first used her now-discontinued Celine Hiker Flat Ankle Strap Sandals in 2016, to bring a chic flair to her laid-back look of a classic white button up and turned up, straight leg blue jeans.

With chunky leather straps running across the foot and a supportive criss-cross strap hugging the ankle, what makes the style of sandal so trendy in 2025 is the toe strap detail, which plays into a minimal, quiet luxury look.

woman&home's Fashion Ecommerce Editor Caroline Parr said, "I don't know about you, but in the summer months, I want the ease of a slip-in sandal rather than trainers.

"VB's toe loop leather style is a more elevated take on the classic flip-flop, and as she's proving here, they look so chic with blue jeans and a crisp white shirt. The definition of smart casual," she added.

With a low rise waist and relaxed fit, the jeans perfectly blended everyday casual with a more elevated style. The 3/4 length of her shirt sleeves and the slightly oversized fit of the blouse worked to create an ideal day-to-day outfit that would also work in any summer outfit ideas for work.

The flat sandal style was an unexpected choice for Victoria, who rarely ditches her heels. When she does, she is a fan of more sporty styles like adidas's best white trainers; the adidas Women's Grand Td Lifestyle Court Casual Shoes.

But these Celine sandals clearly caught her eye, as she wore them multiple times across the 2010s and even invested in the same style in other colourways - which is always a clever thing to do when you've found a wardrobe staple that you love and know you'll get a lot of wear out of.

Wearing the sandals again in 2018, she gave us an outfit formula we'll be following all summer when she slipped into the white colourway of the Celine sandals and created a monochrome outfit by styling them with tailored white maxi skirt. And, like with her 2016 look, a crisp white shirt completed the sleek, summer-ready outfit.

As well as styling the black sandals with jeans, she's showed off their versatility over the years by also wearing them with a pair of roomy, wide leg suit trousers.

Keeping to a simple colour palette, she styled her black trousers with a crisp white shirt, and carried a black leather shoulder bag to finish off the look and tie in with the black leather of her sandals.

Also, for some white jeans outfit inspiration, she's previously worn the Celine sandals with a pair of white, high waisted jeans and a tailored black shirt.

A truly versatile style staple, we're racing to invest in a pair for ourselves!

<![CDATA[ Not sold on denim shorts? Kate Middleton’s tailored white pair are a flattering and sophisticated alternative ]]> Knowing what to wear in the heat and still feel put-together isn’t easy and the Princess of Wales has an additional challenge. As a senior working royal, she typically wears longer hemlines and steers clear of strapless or low-neckline designs.

This means more coverage on a sunny day, but Kate does occasionally swap her midi dresses and co-ords for shorts. This is usually because she’s throwing herself into an activity-based engagement. However, in 2022 she wore a stunning pair of Holland Cooper linen blend shorts as part of her arrival outfit for a visit to Plymouth.

The Princess met with sailing teams from the UK and New Zealand and she did take part in some sailing herself. She swapped into a wetsuit when she took to the water, though her original pair were a soft white tone and would rival any denim shorts.

Holland Cooper still makes these £199 tailored shorts in a range of hues, including the white that the Princess of Wales has in her collection. The single knife pleats give them a crisp look that enhances their smartness.

They’re high-waisted and also feature the brand’s signature gold rivets for a glamorous edge. Every summer, no matter the denim trends, shorts always surge in popularity as we search for a staple to wear in the sunshine.

Denim shorts can look quite casual, thanks to the fabric and wash pattern. Many designs are also far shorter than I personally prefer to wear and some denims can be quite stiff.

In contrast, white shorts like Kate’s feel quite sophisticated and are just as easy to style with different tops. If you pick a linen or cotton blend, there’s usually a bit more softness to them, too. Tailored options are also traditionally not so fitted on the legs which can be very flattering.

It’s worth considering adding some to your collection if you're not sure how to style shorts and usually avoid denim ones, but want something comfier and easier to dress up. For her visit to Plymouth, the future Queen wore hers with her go-to Superga trainers and a blue and white nautical striped knit.

As she was at the coast where it can often be cooler than inland, the long-sleeved jumper was a clever choice to balance out the reduced coverage on her legs. This was a quintessential smart-casual outfit pre-sailing, although with the addition of a blazer and some sleek ballet flats or wedges it would become more elevated.

I would wear white tailored shorts with a colourful cami top on a scorching day for a touch of brightness, and the beauty of them being so neutral is that they’d work with pretty much anything.

Since 2022 Kate hasn’t re-worn these shorts on a visit. Back then she wasn’t Princess of Wales yet and it’s possible that now she’s even more senior within the Royal Family we won’t see them again.

That doesn’t mean that she hasn’t kept the tailored shorts in her collection to wear when she’s at home at Adelaide Cottage or Anmer Hall, though.

<![CDATA[ Barrel legs are out, flattering flares are in – just ask Olivia Munn ]]> Snapped attending "Through Her Lens": The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Programme, Olivia Munn reminded us why this retro jean style is ready for a comeback. In a pair of high-waisted, statement flared jeans, in this season's washed-out blue hue, Olivia Munn paired her trending jeans with a crisp white shirt and oversized sunnies.

The epitome of Quiet Luxury, the understated ensemble was expertly executed. Dressed head-to-toe in Chanel, the star accented her look with subtle black and gold accessories that included a classic quilted bag with chain strap, an elegant woven and gold chain buckle belt and a coordinating watch for completeness.

The timeless outfit echoed other guests' ensembles, several of whom opted for the latest 2025 denim trends for the occasion. And while barrel leg jeans have been a key look throughout spring, they can be overwhelming when it comes to the sheer volume of fabric from thigh to ankle, while high-waisted flares deliver a much more curve-loving finish.

Olivia Munn revives the flare: the jean style that flatters every shape

When it comes to summer outfit ideas, very little beats the classics and light blue jeans and a white shirt certainly fall into this category. The wide hem of the jeans, coupled with the tucked-in top and cinching belt helps to create a flattering hourglass silhouette

Although the best barrel legs jeans have been the style choice for the past few months, denim trends come and go, and Chanel's penchant for a flared jean is about to put this nostalgic shape back on the fashion map.

Opting for a high-waisted style will help to create a narrowed waistline. This, coupled with the width at the bottom of the hem, creates a well-balanced hourglass throughout.

When styling flared jeans, always keep your top half neat and fitted; tucking in at the waist helps to streamline your frame and ensure your form isn't overwhelmed.

While Chanel's iteration of this trend delivers an exaggerated hem, there are plenty of smaller flares on the market to help ease you into this 70s silhouette.

Get the Look

Denim trends come and go, that's why if you find a great pair of jeans, don't get rid of them if a silhouette falls out of favour, as they will come back to the fore at some point.

The best part of flared jeans? This figure-flattering shape is easy to adapt to your body type, with a range of flares available, from super-sized to gentle kick-flares to ease you in.

When it comes to how to style flared jeans, take notes from Olivia Munn and keep your look simple. The hem shape is already quite the statement, so there is no need to go overboard. Keep your top half tailored and proportionate to balance out the wider leg. Tuck in tops, or go for just-hitting-the-waistline styles to help narrow your middle, and try a short, but strong-shouldered blazer for added polish. The slightly wider shoulder will reflect the hem, giving you an even more emphasised hourglass.

If you're looking to execute a Quiet Luxury look, remember it's all in the subtle details. A white shirt and denim jeans is the ideal combo for this type of outfit. It says that you don't need to go over the top to have confidence in your style. Finish a laidback but put-together ensemble such as this with a great handbag and classic jewellery for an unbeatable look.

<![CDATA[ Princess Anne’s surprisingly specific way of eating breakfast isn't one I'll be trying out myself ]]> Princess Anne has a no-frills approach to life as a royal and this seemingly applies to her breakfasts too. Although we might imagine a luxurious spread being laid out for her at Gatcombe Park, the King’s sister is said to enjoy a simple bowl of fruit instead.

However, whilst it might sound like a very easy-to-prepare choice, this apparently isn’t the case at all. As reported by Hello!, former royal chef Darren McGrady previously suggested to Today that the Princess Royal "almost always" preferred completely black bananas.

Waiting for the fruit to ripen is one thing, holding out for this is quite another and the Princess’s alleged preference won’t be for everyone. According to Darren, though, there’s a reason for this and the bananas were also prepared just-so.

"[Princess Anne] almost always preferred the bananas almost black - overripe - because they digest easier," he claimed, before adding, "First, the ends of the banana are cut off. Then the banana peel is sliced down the middle from end to end so the unpeeled fruit can be opened."

The final piece of the breakfast puzzle is supposedly slicing the overripe banana into "circles" before it’s "eaten with a fork". In the past, Darren McGrady has alleged that this was exactly the same way that Queen Elizabeth ate them.

Whether or not the late monarch also ate them quite that overripe isn’t known, but Princess Anne might be on to something. As reported by the Leicester Bowel Clinic in January 2025, as bananas ripen, the resistant starch "converts into simple sugars, making them easier to digest".

Even so, as someone who prefers this fruit on the green side, I’m not sure I’ll be trying Her Royal Highness’ go-to "almost black" bananas anytime soon. Surprisingly enough, this isn’t the only specific fruit-related habit she has.

As per the Daily Mail, in Robert Hardman’s bestselling royal biography, Queen Of Our Times: The Life of Queen Elizabeth II, Zara Tindall reportedly explained that her mother "always has a kiwi fruit" with her when she’s on the go.

Kiwis are high in Vitamin C and Vitamin K, as well as fibre and antioxidants. Robert alleged that the Princess Royal often prefers to eat a kiwi instead of having a full lunch.

Fruit seems to be a staple in her diet at all times of day and the idea that Princess Anne could be carrying a kiwi around with her in her handbag is brilliant. It’s a good source of sustenance when she’s busy and the senior royal is known to be one of the most hard-working members of the Royal Family.

Her schedule is always packed full of engagements and she is incredibly open about how she wants the focus to be on the organisations and charities she visits, rather than on her. In August, the Princess Royal will turn 75 and instead of celebrating with a party, she hosted more than 100 organisations at Buckingham Palace this month.

"This personifies what Her Royal Highness cares about," declared a palace source to The Telegraph. "She didn’t want to do anything for her birthday but bring her charities together to hear more about their work and how she can help them."

<![CDATA[ Peachy keen: Carole Middleton’s quilted bag is a summer must-have ]]> Carole Middleton is known for her elegant style, and her outfits for events like Royal Ascot always serve as good inspiration for sophisticated dressing.

Where she excels is adapting her fashion to the occasion, and for her many appearances at Wimbledon, Carole tends to keep her looks neutral and minimalist. But that doesn't mean boring – Carole is a pro at blending timeless styles with colorful accessories.

A great example is the outfit she wore to Wimbledon in 2017, which paired a simple white shift dress with a high crew neck and short sleeves with a peach Jaeger ‘Kate’ bag.

woman&home's Fashion Ecommerce Editor Caroline Parr says: "Carole's daughter Kate also owns this Jaeger bag in the navy colorway, and it's easy to see why they're both such big fans. The quilted finish has a distinctly Chanel feel to it, and it's the perfect size for all your essentials for a day out. Kate has continued to carry hers for years, which proves what a good investment a chic little bag can be."

The bag was crafted from luxurious leather with a padded quilted finish to it that instantly drew the eye. It had gold-toned hardware for a touch of glamour and the warm undertone was perfect with the peachy-nude shade.

The soft hue of Carole’s quilted peach bag meant that it worked perfectly as a subtle contrast with her white dress. However, it would’ve looked just as fabulous with more vibrant items and a neutral bag, no matter the design, is such a versatile piece to have in your wardrobe for this very reason.

The Princess of Wales’s mum wore hers as a shoulder bag although the chain strap was retractable and so she could also have worn it as a crossbody bag or even a clutch.

Crossbody bags are everywhere right now, proving Carole's skill at picking out a timeless accessory.

Sadly, it’s no longer available although that won’t stop us (or any other handbag fans) being tempted by similar-toned crossbody bags on the market right now. The quilting made Carole Middleton’s bag stand out, although if smooth leather is something you prefer for an ultra-minimalist look then there are still so many to choose from.

Shop More Crossbody Bags

Carole’s choice of bag couldn’t have been more perfect for a day watching the tennis where it’s helpful to be hands-free and where only the essentials are needed. She finished off her look with a pair of sunglasses to shield her eyes from the sun and allowed the contrast of her white dress and peachy-nude bag to do all the talking.

This accessory clearly remained a favourite of Carole’s as she wore it again to Wimbledon in 2018 - this time with a polka dot shirt dress and nude and raffia wedges. We haven’t seen her attending the Championships for several years now and last time she was there she wore two fabulous floral dresses.

She opted for raffia and top handle bags for the two days rather than her quilted one, but both highlighted Carole’s continued love for neutral bags. We can only hope that we get another glimpse at her Jaeger bag during summer events this year as it’s possible she could return to watch Wimbledon 2024.

Like Kate, she’s understood to be a huge tennis fan and they’ve previously attended Wimbledon on the same day, with OK! claiming that it was to Carole and Michael Middleton that Kate adorably blew a kiss in 2022.

<![CDATA[ Ranvir Singh’s pretty strawberry-patterned dress is the perfect pop of summer colour – without overdoing it ]]> Summer style is full of contrast as white dresses always surge in popularity this time of year - but so do vibrant designs and splashy patterns. Taking the plunge and going for a full-on colourful outfit is something that can be quite daunting and yet a white dress can feel overly plain.

This is why Ranvir Singh’s strawberry-patterned dress caught my eye so much when she wore it to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Preview Party on 11th June. A design like this is an easy way to bring a pop of colour in an understated way.

I was disappointed to discover that her exact M&S X Ghost dress isn’t available anymore, though I will still be taking a lot of inspiration from it for my seasonal looks. It has a vintage-esque style, with a neat collared neckline and puffed short sleeves.

The silhouette is elegant and modest, making it perfect for wearing to a christening or a garden party where you want to feel dressed up but still be comfortable. Ranvir’s dress is midi-length and although the bodice is more fitted, the skirt is flowing and loose.

The A-line silhouette is timeless and feels more low-key than a fit-and-flare with its voluminous skirt. Because of this, the presenter could easily have worn a pair of her best white trainers and added a raffia bag to make it seem smart-casual instead.

When you’re wearing patterned pieces the design can sometimes lend itself to being styled formally or for the daytime, but Ranvir’s strawberry-print dress works for both. It’s very delicate and small, meaning that it brings just a hint of colour.

Complete The Look

The red of the strawberries is complemented by the green leaves and pale blue flowers. Each hue stands out from the white base fabric without taking over.

Even if fruit prints aren’t for you, Ranvir Singh’s ensemble shows how much of a difference having a small amount of colour can make to a simple white dress. It’s not too out-there and bright polka dots or tiny flowers can achieve a similar effect to this strawberry pattern.

To make it subtler still, Ranvir accessorised with plain white slingback heels. This time of year, many of us go for flats or espadrilles like the Princess of Wales’s wedges as they are easier to walk on grass in than stilettos.

The presenter didn’t need to worry about this for the exhibition, though she still went comfy with a pair of kitten heels. They had a covered, pointed toe with a mesh upper.

Ranvir completed her outfit for the occasion with an array of different bracelets. On her right wrist there was a stack of silver ones and she wore a single gold one on her left wrist.

When she’s working on Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, she tends to stick to either fully bright pieces or entirely neutral looks. This kind of whimsical patterned dress isn’t something we often see Ranvir reaching for, but I’m really glad she did.

<![CDATA[ Flattering, comfortable, and occasion-ready – Amal Clooney’s navy jumpsuit is a style win ]]> Amal Clooney is a constant source of elegant style inspiration - from her striking red carpet style to her impeccably tailored workwear. But there's clearly one piece she's particularly fond of, which always look effortlessly chic: the jumpsuit.

The human rights lawyer has large collection, featuring some of the best jumpsuits you can buy, which range from neutral colours to more striking tones like burgundy.

But, going through the fashion archives, I've found my favourite in this navy all-in-one that she wore back in 2019. I should know, I'm a fashion editor and have been following Amal's style for years.

Delivering the perfect party outfit inspiration with this look, Amal solidified the one shoulder shape as a go-to for a super flattering look that feels timeless and classic, while also giving off a unique and contemporary flair. The cropped wide leg trouser was a stroke of genius, with the shorter hem creating a modern style too. Plus, the deep blue navy hue is softer than classic black, while still being rich and full of depth - oh and it's got pockets!

Amal wore this jumpsuit, which was designed by one of her favourite designers, Stella McCartney, for a charity gala in Scotland. And it still ticks all the boxes for an on-trend outfit today.

Amal's closet is a haven of timeless and classic pieces, though she's often a fan of updating more understated styles with bright colours, statement shoes and fun accessories. Here, though, she makes a good case for less being more as this pared-back outfit is totally timeless. The structured finish of the satin fabric looks incredibly luxurious and, by matching the shade of navy blue and carrying it through to her choice of shoes, she created an ultra-glamorous outfit.

Of course, though, she couldn't totally ditch her fun accessories and styled the jumpsuit with a punchy leopard print box clutch bag, which we adore with its bold pattern.

How to accessorize

The beauty of finding a jumpsuit you really love is that it takes out all the stress of having to work out if that top works with those trousers. Be prepared to pay a bit more than you might for, say, a skirt, since this is an entire outfit in one. Make the most of the asymmetric neckline by wearing your hair up and adding some earrings.

<![CDATA[ I suspect Kate Middleton will steer clear of one of her favourite shades at Trooping the Colour - and wear this one instead ]]> Summer is an especially busy time for the Royal Family, but perhaps the biggest seasonal event of all is Trooping the Colour. The working royals come together for the monarch’s official birthday parade, which culminates in them watching an RAF flypast on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Last year, the Princess of Wales made a highly anticipated appearance at the event whilst she was still undergoing cancer treatment. In January 2025, she confirmed she was in remission and I’m looking forward to seeing her on 14th June alongside Prince William and their children.

As with any royal event, the fashion is sure to attract a lot of attention and I have my suspicions about what Kate could wear. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she arrived at Horse Guards Parade in head-to-toe white and avoided one of her favourite hues.

Shop White Dresses For Summer

Dressing for official occasions like Trooping the Colour is a bit like figuring out what to wear to the races - it takes consideration, has to be sufficiently formal and includes headpieces. For last year’s parade, he future Queen wore a Jenny Packham dress with a Philip Treacy hat.

The frock had a fun bow detail at the front with navy detailing and this dark shade was echoed in the hat’s design, but they were both predominantly white. Back in 2022, Kate also wore a white dress and hat to Trooping the Colour during the Platinum Jubilee Weekend.

Admittedly, she went far more vibrant in 2023 with her emerald green Andrew Gn dress. However, I believe this was a nod to the Irish Guards as it was the first parade since the Princess of Wales became their Colonel.

The Coldstream Guards are trooping their colours this year and King Charles is their Colonel-in-Chief. Part of the reason I predict Kate will wear white (aside from her favouring this colour in the past) is because it’s very simple and pared-back.

White doesn’t draw the eye the way a bright colour might, and Kate is known for wanting the importance of her engagements and events to speak for themselves. This shade also features on the British flag and since Prince William always wears his red Welsh Guards uniform to Trooping the colour and the kids tend to wear blue, Kate wearing white would complete the tones.

I would be shocked if she wore red, despite it being a favourite of hers. Her Royal Highness re-wore her scarlet Catherine Walker dress at the Commonwealth Day service and stepped out in an equally bright red coat in Wales in February.

(Image credit: Image 1: Photo by Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images // Image 2: Photo by Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images // Image 3: Photo by Chris Jackson/Getty Images)

A month earlier, she’d visited The Royal Marsden Hospital wearing a burgundy knitted dress and her carol service ensemble was a cherry hue. Even her outfit for the 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrations was a berry-red tone. Red is clearly a colour the Princess feels comfortable wearing to high-profile events and engagements.

However, she’s never worn it to Trooping the Colour. There could be many reasons for this, though a red dress would match Prince William and possibly look a bit too overwhelming or overshadow his uniform.

There is also always a sense of cohesion between the Wales family’s outfits. Prince George and Prince Louis will likely wear blue suits and white shirts again and so if Kate wears white, possibly with a hint of blue, she will coordinate with them.

We'll all just have to wait and see on 14th June and I know no matter what she wears, the Princess of Wales will look as fabulously elegant as always.
